It’s a holiday weekend, and normally that means more time for gaming. So, what are you going to play? If you’re not sure, or you’re looking for something new, Stardock has a sale going on right now that is definitely worth a look.
If you’re not familiar with Stardock’s digital distribution platform, Impulse, this would be a good time to give it a look. After all, they’re offering some great deals, like Call of Duty 4 for just $34.99 and Sins of a Solar Empire with its expansion for just $29.99.
The sale also includes titles like the complete Unreal series, Prototype, Red Faction Guerilla, and more. You can get your copy of Impulse and check out all the deals at ImpulseDriven.com
You can also see the full list of games on sale, along with their prices, after the break.

In the past few years, games have become more and more tied to the music industry. Obviously, games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero have cemented this tie, but another publisher that is putting new bands in the spotlight is EA Sports. Each of the EA Sports titles includes a number of popular songs in the jukebox, and there are always a few in there that get some great exposure out of the deal.
This year, one of those bands is up-and coming British rockers Pint Shot Riot. Recently, we were afforded the opportunity to sit down and chat with the band, specifically bass player Baby Dave. We chatted about how they got involved with EA Games, and about what kind of gamers they are as well.
Gaming Today: To get us started, could you tell us a little bit about yourself and the other members of Pint Shot Riot?
Pint Shot Riot: We are a 4 piece British rock and roll band and we love making music and playing music together. We just try to write songs that come from the heart and mean something to us.
GT: How did you first become involved with EA Games? How do you feel about having your music placed in the Sims 3 and Fight Night? Do you feel these titles expose you to the type of people that might enjoy your music?
PSR:E.A and our publishers Artwerk were scouting U.K for some fresh artists when our name came up, we met, got on and the rest is history! We feel very happy about being in their games! Obviously, we knew all about what they do and it was awesome to be asked to be part of it. All kinds of people will be buying those games so we would hope to reach people who will like it and also some people who might not of found us otherwise.
You can find the rest of the interview after the break.

Video games are full of colorful characters from speedy blue hedgehogs to scientists who know their way around a rocket launcher. That doesn’t mean games are without their stereotypes though, and I’m not talking about the fact that every gritty shooter needs at least one black soldier ready to blast some hip-hop music at any given opportunity. No, I’m talking about the overweight individuals who packed on a few pounds and then decided that was reason enough to get in everyone’s way somehow. When it comes to those portly video game characters that aren’t plumbers sporting red overalls, most of them just tend to be plain old bastards. Here are six of the biggest fat bastards in gaming that I could think of.

The contents of Capcom’s Street Fighter IV Collector’s Edition for the PS3 and the Xbox 360 have been reveled today, and for $79.99 (Amazon, GameStop, etc.) you can get some really interesting things if you are a Street Fighter fan.
The Collector’s Edition for both consoles is almost exactly the same, except that the bonus disc with a 65-minute full-length Anime movie and promotional trailers will be a Blu-ray disc for the PS3 version and the collectible figures included will be a Ryu for the PS3 and a C. Viper for the Xbox 360. The set also includes a CD soundtrack, a Udon/Prima Hint book; and 5 downloadable costumes.
Gamers who pre-order the Collector’s Edition or the regular edition of Street Fighter IV through GameStop will also receive an exclusive headband like the one worn by martial arts master Ryu while supplies last.
The game is expected to ship on February 17 so if you want in on the goodies, you better get to ordering now. Gamers interested in playing the PC version will have to wait until June 2, 2009 to join in on the fun.

In Gamer Life, Videos
We’ve heard quite a few details about the upcoming movie, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, but we still haven’t actually seen much from it aside from a dirty-faced Kristin Kreuk or a tank top wearing Moon Bloodgood. Now though, it seems that JoBlo has gotten their hands on a few stills from the movie itself that show Chun-Li in action. And by “Chun-Li in action,” I mean “Kristin Kreuk knocking people out or looking pensively over her shoulder.” Yeah, without the blue dress and spiked wrists, I just have a hard time seeing what any of this has to do with Street Fighter. At least we know Vega and some of the other characters — who aren’t named Ryu or Ken — will be showing up at some point.
You can check out some more stills here.

Capcom has unveiled a new batch of Street Fighter IV screens that focus on some of the not-so-classic characters in the roster. You know, those characters that showed up sometime after the huge surge in Street Fighter popularity and just never lived up to the likes of Ryu or Chun-Li. Characters like Sakura, you’re typical ass-kicking schoolgirl (those apparently terrorize the streets of Japan). Or Dan, who’s a bit like Ryu and Ken only…different.
Seriously, Capcom? I mean, I know he’s the only one in a pink costume, but did you have to make his character seem just a clothing change away from resembling a transvestite hooker?
You can check out more disturbing screenshots here.
