unkut09 1024x576 Saints Row 2 Unkut DLC Offers Free Clothes, Tatoos to GangstersLooking for some designer threads for your thugs in Saints Row 2?

Well THQ hears your cries of fashion abandonment and is offering a new Unkut branded download pack for players to further customize their hooligans as the battle for supremacy of Saints Row continues. The add on also includes new tattoo options to further expand the ink options.

While GTA IV gets most of the press, I have to say I really enjoyed the low-brow humor and satire in Saints Row 2 more. The whole driving through the construction zone in a stolen waste disposal truck spraying down a developers half-built homes with feces is still one of the most fun stupid side missions I’ve ever played in a sandbox game.

The Unkut pack is now available for free on Xbox Live and Sony’s PSN store. You can find more images of the Unkut branded clothing at the Saints Row 2 community website.

Kym Worthy Issues Her Annual “Do Not Buy” List of Videogames

kym worthy

Remember last year around this time when Detroit Prosecutor Kym Worthy was dubbed Gaming Today’s unofficial “Idiot of the Day” due to her outdated list of violent videogames for parents to avoid purchasing for their kids at Christmas? Well, it looks like all the internet bashing she received across the board taught her (and her assistants) a valuable lesson because the list she has issued this year is pretty much up to date–even if it was culled from the National Institute on Media and the Family’s 2008 Annual Video Game Report Card.

Here is the list she has complied for parents who are wishing to avoid the inevitable reality of their children becoming sociopaths after playing these games.

  • Blitz the League II
  • Dead Space
  • Fallout 3
  • Far Cry 2
  • Gears of War 2
  • Left 4 Dead
  • Legendary
  • Resistance 2
  • Saints Row 2
  • Silent Hill: Homecoming

All joking aside, these are all mature games that kids should not be playing. Kym should really be encouraging parents to read the ratings on the packaging just like they would on a DVD or Music disc before buying it. All forms of media bought by parents should be age and maturity level appropriate. However, be that as it may, I think one commenter over on the Detroit Free Press website where this was originally posted said it best when they commented:

“And for those who say “lets go back to early American principles” what principles would that be? Before violent games, for entertainment, parents would take their children to lynchings, beheadings, drawing and quartering, hangings, cross burnings, stonings, and for that special evening, the colosseum to see a man get devoured by animals. Make no bones about it, humans have always been a violent animal that has shown their children how to be violent animals.”

The Singing Bone

Good morning gamers, and welcome once again to another edition of GameTap Thursday. Today, the digital distribution site has some more foul and nasty fun in store for you with The Singing Bone which is the newest episode of American McGee’s Grimm Volume 2. It is free to play for the first 24-hours, but after that you must be a gold member to continue playing it.

The Singing Bone tells the sordid tale of one brother killing another to gain the hand of the princess. When the murdered brother’s skull starts singing of the foul deed that waylaid him, the King is angered. Leave it up to our host Grimm to make a story about fratricide even more dastardly than it already is as he sets forth to foul-up the land with his nasty habits.

Also new this week is Red Faction II from THQ and Saints Row 2 developer Volition. This sci-fi action/FPS game puts players in the position of guiding demolitions expert Alias and his five biologically enhanced squad members on a mission to defend the Republic of Commonwealth. The game features different game elements to keep you interested such as puzzle-solving, stealth-based levels, vehicular combat and multiple endings to give you more replay value.

GameTap has 143 other free games such as Fallout and Hitman in their roster should you be on a budget, so head on over and sign up for some cool PC fun. Next week King Midas, a new episode of Grimm Volume 2 ,will go live so check back with us to see what craven tale of mischief lies in store for you.

Portal: Still Alive and GTA: San Andreas Hitting Xbox Live Next Week

portalgta1 copy Portal: Still Alive and GTA: San Andreas Hitting Xbox Live Next Week

It seems like we’ve officially hit the holiday video game surge, and Microsoft isn’t taking that lightly. As if next week weren’t going to burn our wallets enough with games like Fable 2 and Far Cry 2, Xbox Live will be getting one old and one semi-old favorite added to the list of games. The most interesting of these is probably Portal: Still Alive, which is essentially a standalone version of the hit title bundled in Valve’s Orange Box, but with some added bonuses. The XBLA version will include the original game, plus 14 extra challenge maps and six advanced maps for your extended enjoyment. The game will become available for download on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Before that though, Xbox Live subscribers will be treated to an old favorite that once turned the term “hot coffee” into a dirty sexual innuendo. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will join the Xbox Originals to remind you what GTA was like before impressive physics and online multiplayer were introduced. It was a simpler time, when a man could get his character eat enough fast food to turn into a waddling mass of gangsta flesh; a time that Niko Bellic wouldn’t be able to replicate. Also, bicycles! GTA:SA will be hitting Xbox Live on Oct. 20.

Oh come on, video game companies! I’m still in the middle of Dead Space and Saints Row 2! At this rate, I’ll be stuck in front of my TV until next year just to play all the games getting released this month. Or I’ll probably just keep playing TF2 as usual…

Saints Row 2 Actors Talk About Their Voice Over Work in New Trailer

Saints Row 2 `Voice Over Talent` Trailer

Compared to most of the trailers we’ve received for Saints Row 2, this latest one is probably the least crazy; not that it doesn’t have it’s share of weirdness. In this video, the different voice actors from the game talk about their characters and their experience working on the game. I didn’t realize just how many recognizable celebrities were actually lending their talents to the sequel. But out of all of them, there’s really only one that I’m excited to hear in the game: Neil Patrick Harris. The way he’s been going these days, he can make just about anything funny.

Saints Row 2 To Contain Socially Deviant Behavior of “Tea-bagging”

saints row 2What in the wide world of sports is the land of gaming coming to when a new title will feature the “art” of tea-bagging?  Looks like all of the time you spent either getting tea-bagged in Halo 3 or administering it to other gamers you have pwned has paid off.

According to Gamer.tm, during a demonstration of Saints Row 2 at last week’s Games Convention in Leipzig, the game will be the proud forebearer of distasteful actions to come by being the first game to feature tea-bagging as an actual part of gameplay.

Volition designer David Bowring showed off the new customizable taunts menu which included a “genuine and fully animated alternative for ultimate humiliation” which will go far beyond the standing over and repeatedly squatting over a fallen foe. Some of these taunts will earn you more praise from your “gang” if they are well-timed, and on the same token – more socially acceptable emotes can be used as well, so don’t go around thinking that you will also be able to fish hook, or Cleveland Steam another player.

Despite the strangeness of the emote I just mentioned, some news regarding who your character is has also come to light. Apparently the main character in the game will be the same as the first Saint’s Row but he will look different due to some reconstructive surgery he underwent after the accident he had at the end of the first game. The other interesting thing about having the same character, is that with Saints Row 2 you can make your character a female, which would give the main character an interesting twist to their backstory with cross-dressing potential.

Saints Row 2 is expected to be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 14.

“Ronin” Gang Revealed for Saints Row 2

Saints Row 2 `The Ronin` Trailer

Following the last Saints Row 2 trailer — which revealed the Sons of Samedi — this new video introduces us to another gang the Saints will square off against: the Ronin. As you can probably imagine, the Ronin are a Japanese crime organization somewhat influenced by samurai culture, hence the swords they carry. They also seem to like yellow leather jackets and motorcycles. This game is starting to sound more and more like a Tarantino movie waiting to happen.

Saints Row 2 `Sons of Samedi` Trailer

THQ has released a new trailer for Saints Row 2 that shows off another gang that you’ll square off against: the Sons of Samedi. This gang handles large drug deals and seems to be influenced by Rastafarian culture (except actual Rastas wouldn’t be involved with drugs other than marijuana to begin with). For some reason, they really remind me of one of the gangs from Predator 2. At any rate, this is one of the many groups you’ll need to take down in your efforts to control the city once more.

Tera Patrick’s New Dev Diary for Saints Row 2 is…Boobs

By Jonathan on Thursday, July 31st, 2008 at 7:42 PM

To be honest, when it was announced that adult film mogul, Tera Patrick, was joining the Saints Row 2 team as a “special producer,” part of me was hoping they’d get her into one of the usual developer diaries. Well, now it looks like the team has delivered and then some. Apparently, this is intended as only the first of several dev diaries starring the lovely Ms. Patrick. Sure, the video may not tell us much about the game at all…but on the other hand, who cares? They may not be as funny as the Gary Busey trailers for the game, but they’re still sure to be entertaining in their own way.

Tera Patrick Signs-on with Saints Row 2 as a “Special Producer”

sr2 terawebposter ji 01a 1 Tera Patrick Signs on with Saints Row 2 as a “Special Producer

A “special producer” of what, I have no clue, but according to THQ, Adult film star Tera Patrick has started work on Saints Row 2 as a special producer, bringing her “one-of-a-kind touch” to the project. More details will be revealed on July 30th so, keep your eyes peeled on the internet if this sort of thing interests you.

Tera will also be making a special appearance at THQ’s Comic Con booth this Saturday, where she’ll meet with fans and sign exclusive Saints Row 2 art. Oh boy, I see a riot happening and cosplay outfits being ripped to shreds now.

The only thing I can say about the whole Tera Patrick thing, and I am going to be nice for a change, is that 1) I am glad she went back to brunette, and 2) she was much prettier before the boob and nose job.

See, I can be nice once in a while, but don’t get used to it.
