Play With Madness: Iron Maiden Coming to Rock Band

By Eva on Friday, May 29th, 2009 at 8:50 PM

Run for your life, Iron Maiden is coming to Rock Band June 9th for the Xbox 360 and Wii and June 11th for the PS3. Harmonix is releasing 12 master tracks as an accompaniment to Iron Maiden’s new Flight 666, a Blu-ray and DVD of the band’s Somewhere Back in Time World Tour. accompanied by a. Many of my favorites made it to the list including The Trooper, Wasted Years, and Can I Play With Madness. There four live tracks from the Flight 666 double CD soundtrack album including Aces High and Hallowed Be Thy Name.

The Iron Maiden tracks will be available on the Xbox 360 and PS3 as singles or in the Iron Maiden Pack. Wii owners only have the option to download them individually.

I’ve been bitching about Run to the Hills not transferring to Rock Band 2 since we got the game. My kids love it too. You should hear my five year old belt it out. Finally I’m getting much more than I bargained for. For the full list of tracks, follow the jump.

Build Your Own Band in Guitar Hero 5

By Ron on Monday, May 18th, 2009 at 10:37 AM
In Activision, Game Companies, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Games, Guitar Hero, Microsoft, Sony

In today’s installment of ‘Yes, we’re milking the hell out of this’ news, Activision has announced that players of the upcoming Guitar Hero 5 will be able to construct their bands however they like in the upcoming rhythm game.

gh5 logo 1056x960 300x272 Build Your Own Band in Guitar Hero 5According to a press release we received here in our Gaming Today Volcano Lair™, you’ll be able to have a band with three guitars and a singer, 2 guitars and two drummers, or any other combination you can think up (Or more importantly, any combination you can afford enough plastic instruments for). The release also mentions new game modes like Party Play, which lets players jump in and out seamlessly, and RockFest, which will feature five new head-to-head modes for both online and local play. as well as allowing you to play the whole setlist as soon as you get the game home.

The other interesting piece of news is that GH5 will support DLC from Guitar Hero: World Tour, proving that Activision realizes how stupid it was to partition our GH3 DLC off from World Tour. Well, some of the DLC. There’s a worrisome asterisk in the press release that says ‘Does not apply to a limited number of songs.’

Now, I’m obviously not someone who hates Guitar Hero. Heck, I have every GH game (except for for GH: Aerosmith, but then, who does have that one?). However, even I question the logic of their release ideas. GH: Metallica hasn’t been out that long, and they’re already dropping GH5? Look, I know World Tour was a letdown. It tried to be different with how it handled setlists and whatnot, and it just didn’t work. But GH: Metallica brought you back! It was a slick game that was fun to play again. Shouldn’t you give us some time to enjoy it?

Duran Duran Heading to Rock Band Wii DLC

In Electronic Arts, Game Companies, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Games, Harmonix, Nintendo, Rock Band

duran duran rio Duran Duran Heading to Rock Band Wii DLCRock Band Wii is finally getting 25 more original master recordings including some of the classics that Xbox 360 and PS3 owners have been enjoying for quite some time. As of May 12th players can download the Psychedelic Furs, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Duran Duran and selections to flesh out their collections. For those who aren’t nostalgic about the 80’s, Indie rockers Locksley and Silversun Pickups offer an updated alternative. Mötley Crüe’s “Face Down in the Dirt” and Sixx: A.M.’s “Life is Beautiful,” one of my personal favorites, are also finally out for the Wii.

Rock Band 2 owners can grab a couple new tracks from Disturbed and Steely Dan as well as singles from The Replacements and Elvis Costello and a trio from Social Distortion.

Harmonix and EA are rolling out tracks as fast as possible to bring the Wii DLC catalog up to par. Wii owners may not have the beautiful graphics the other consoles enjoy, but they’ll eventually have access to the full 670 songs available for Rock Band. Gamers can preview and purchase their favorite songs from the Rock Band Music Store.

The full list of songs and artists follow the link below.
