Requeim: Bloodymare - Get to Know Your Possession Beasts
Posted by Stephany on Thursday, July 24th, 2008 at 8:20 am under Computer, Game Companies, Gamer Life, Games, Games Industry
In Requiem: Bloodymare, Possession Beasts are powerful beings that can take the most horrific of monsters and make it beg for its life… while it has a mouth, that is.
Remnants of an ancient tribe, the Possession Beasts are rare and powerful creatures. Born from sealed relics, the Beasts are the lasting heritage of the Khun, a human-beast hybrid tribe from southeast Parness. Taming the beast sealed within the relics, Temperions can summon forth the great power of these beasts. With the brawling Giont and the intelligent Rebria, Temperions can temporarily enhance their own fighting abilities with the beast’s skills. Most fighters prefer the Giont’s skill, feeling their own strength and power swell into crushing blows. The caster classes stay more towards Rebria, preferring to use their wits to freeze enemies at a distance. As more of Ethergia is explored, who knows what other beast relics lay in wait, patiently waiting for a new owner to tame them and bring them to bear against their foes.
Starting on level 23, players can take the Forgotten Relics quest and obtain their first Possession Beast at the end of the quest-chain. Another way to obtain a Possession Beast is by hunting monsters of level 40 and above. Once a player’s Hardcore Gauge is full, he or she can call upon their Possession Beast (just like they would activate a skill) and use it inflict maximum damage on their enemies.
More information on Possession Beasts Giont and Rebria is posted after the break. They don’t come out that often, so when they do, it’s always a fun time. For more information on this Mature MMO, check out our previous posts on the game.

Requiem: Bloodymare - Let's Talk Turans
Posted by Stephany on Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 at 1:17 pm under Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games

Here is another bit of information regarding one of the races in Requiem: Bloodymare, the extremely violent and bloody (thus the title) horror MMORPG.
Turans have balanced strength, agility and are intelligent despite their low resistance to magic. They are also the most balanced race of Ethergia, and although they don’t have any distinctively outstanding strengths, they are renowned for their tenacity and solidarity. They are a rational race that upholds justice, preferring balanced and harmonized combat styles, quick movements, and agility over the use of brute force. They are also adept at learning the other races’ abilities, adapting the divine magic of the Xenoas for their own use.
Combat-wise, Turans are average, in terms of strength and spirit, but they excel in agility, learning, and intelligence. These qualities enable them to learn and utilize a great variety of skills. They are a highly moral race, so Turans tend to use humane skills that do not unnecessarily torture their enemies in battle.
When relating to other races, the Turan and Bartuk races utilized fighting styles dependent on skills based on physical strength early in their histories. However, the Turans eventually began to also develop a more balanced combat style with moves that combine strength, agility and quick thinking since the Bartuks were physically stronger. During the era of the Xenon Empire, many Turans studied divine magic and became adepts. They are naturally opposed to the dark magic wielding Kruxenas, and are vulnerable to their magic attacks.
Job classes for the Turan are defender or templar with second jobs being commander, protector, tempest, or radiant.

Requiem: Bloodymare Registration for Open Beta Begins Today
Posted by Stephany on Wednesday, May 14th, 2008 at 8:56 am under Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games

If you have been wanting to get in on the Requiem: Bloodymare beta but did not get your chance with the closed beta, now you can be a happy little camper. Today, registration for the Requiem: Bloodymare beta begins and once you have filled out all the correct forms so to speak, you can begin playing it May 15 - which is tomorrow for my date-challenged friends. To download the beta, click on the badge below.
I am a participant in the closed beta for Bloodymare, and while I can’t really talk to much about it, I can say that it is indeed a dark, bloody-horror of a place full of seeping evil. If this is your sort of thing, you will really enjoy it, but if you like a lot of sunshine, bunnies, rainbows and unicorns hopping around your screen, steer clear of it because if those creatures existed in Bloodymare, their heads would be on a spike, the sun would be blown to bits, and any rainbow that surfaced would be quickly corrupted by the sheer amount of grotesque evil that abounds in that place.
Video Game Releases for the Week of April 27th
Posted by Stephany on Saturday, April 26th, 2008 at 10:13 am under Computer, Game Companies, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games, Games Industry, Grand Theft Auto, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nintendo, Portable, Sony, Sony

We are all well aware that the giant that is GTA IV will be hitting stores on Tuesday. We also know that Mario Kart Wii will be released tomorrow, which is Sunday, which is a weird day for a game release, which is why I am using the world “which” so much.
Nevertheless, there ARE other games hitting shelves next week, and while they deserve just as much attention as any other highly anticipated title, whoever decided that this would be a great week to launch their game needs either a reality check or to lay off the sauce.
Here are the games slated to hit shelves next week. As always, we are not responsible for any changes to said dates - blame the publisher, not us. Since there are not as many releases as previous weeks, I did not break them down by system this time and listed the date instead:
- April 27: Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
- April 28: Corvette Evolution GT (DS), Requiem: Bloodymare (PC)
- April 29: Brain Voyage (DS), GTA IV & GTA IV Special Edition (PS3, Xbox 360), Let’s Pilates (DS), Let’s Yoga (DS) Polar Games 2 (PC), Riding Star (PS2) SNK Arcade Classics: Volume 1 (PS2, PSP) Toy Shop (DS) Winx Club: Mission Enchantix (DS)

Planet Elder Scrolls and TESNexus Announces March Modding Honors
Posted by Shawn on Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 at 3:51 pm under Bethesda, Computer, Elder Scrolls, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Games, Mods
The most popular Elder Scrolls mods for the month of March have been announced for both Planet Elder Scrolls and TESNexus. I have a vested interest in following these announcements each month, since I’ve spent so much of much playing Morrowind. I find I rarely play anymore now that I’m into Oblivion, although there are some features of Morrowind that didn’t carry over that I miss.
Here are the latest and greatest picks from Planet Elder Scrolls:
Morrowind mods
- Mori Mountain Estate by Marc: This mod adds a large house inside the Northern mountain of Balmora, and is compatible with the Balmora Expansion Mod.
- Clean Dragon Blade by Phijama: Shown above, the Dragon Blade is a wicked sword, inspired by the Requiem blade.
- Svenn’s Pack Guar by Svenn: With this mod, you’ll have a new NPC within the game that sells pack guars.
Oblivion Mods:
- Adonnay’s Classical Weaponry by Adonnay: Adds to new weapons inspired by Adonnay’s mods for Neverwinter Nights 2.
- Slof’s Dremora Textures by AlienSlof: A retexture project to bring a new look to the Dremora.
- Midas Magic - Spells of Aurum by Xilver: As previously mentioned on Bethesda Blog, this mod adds over 100 new and unique spell types.
Here’s the rundown of the Files of the Month for March from TES Nexus. The winners were selected by popular vote:
- Kvatch Rebuilt by The Kvatch Rebuilt Team: The name says it all, Kvatch has returned in all its glory. This mod also adds new armor, a battle arena, and the opportunity to become Count(ess) of Kvatch.
- Verona House Bloodlines by DTOM: This mod adds a new quest where your character is pitted against a sinister cult and their leader. Those who succeed will gain access to an updated version of the Verona House and Verona Bay.
- The Lost Spires by Leo Gura: As you may recall, this mega mod was entered in last year’s IGF Student Competition.
- HG EyeCandy Body by }{ellKnight: A body mod that helps you customize body types in the game.
- Akatosh Mount by Saiden Storm: Saiden Storm’s ever-popular mod that allows you to ride a dragon within the game. If you haven’t seen it already, check out our interview with the creator.
I glad to see the Kvatch Rebuilt mod on the list. I have it loaded as part of my Oblivion Build, and verify that the mod team deserves the accolades for their work.

The Requiem: Bloodymare Community Manager has announced that closed beta period for the MMO has been extended until Thursday April 17th, 2008. Apparently the MMO needs more time for optimization and polishing before entering the stress testing phase.
Gaming Today has been following the development of Requiem: Bloodymare closely. Catch the latest trailer on this very adult MMO on our site.
Requiem: Bloodymare Trailer Will Rip Your Soul to Shreds
Posted by Stephany on Tuesday, March 25th, 2008 at 10:02 am under Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games

It’s midnight. Even seasoned and strong Temperions, those who no longer flinch at the sight of severed monster heads, fear the night. They’ve heard the stories, they’ve seen the bodies.
At first, all you hear is the rustling of something in the dark. As the blood moon rises and the world grows silent, you realize your worst fears, heinous Nightmare Monsters that ravage the world, have now found you. You tighten your grip, feeling the weight of the broadsword. Deep in the darkness, they lie still…
If you were lucky enough to get in on the beta you know what to expect from Requiem: Bloodymare, if not, well let me just say that it is indeed one big barrel of bloody fun.
You have to go through an age gate to view the newest trailer, but that is no big deal. Also, If you would like more information on the game, check out our previous posts.
Bloody Good Screens From Requiem: Bloodymare
Posted by Stephany on Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 at 9:14 am under Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games

I have been playing the beta for Requiem: Bloodmare for a couple of weeks now, and it is indeed a pretty interesting game to say the least. While I am still new to the realm of MMOs, this is definitely not one for teenagers. When Gravity Interactive stated that this was an “adult” oriented MMO they weren’t kidding around one bit.
Requiem: Bloodymare portrays a post-apocalyptic world where genetic manipulation and dark magic have resulted in war, famine and truly grotesque monsters. Players take the role of the genetically-enhanced and magically-adept Temperion soldiers, powerful beings who hold the last best hope for Ethegia.

New Trailer Featuring Game Footage from Requiem: Bloodymare
Posted by Stephany on Friday, February 29th, 2008 at 5:32 pm under Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games
The newest trailer for Gravity Interactive’s horror based MMO is bloody violent. I mean that in the most complimentary sense though, because I am honestly looking forward to trying out Requiem: Bloodymare, especially now that I have my beta key. Watching the latest collage of action shots from the game with some nice, angry, metal music in the background pumped me up for it even more than the last trailer, and since the beta starts today, my weekend is pretty much planned out for me. Since I am starting to get the hang of what to expect out of an MMO, and also add to the fact that I am no longer prejudiced towards them, this could be just what the doctor ordered.
If you found this trailer interesting, and are looking for an MMO that caters to a mature audience, check out our previous posts on Requiem: Bloodymare.

Good news for those of you who are interested in Gravity Interactive’s Requiem: Bloodymare, the horror based MMORPG. Today, the Closed Beta begins, and hopefully everyone who signed up on the site got their codes. If not, don’t get discouraged, because on Friday, Feb. 29, MMORPG.com and MMOSITE.com will also have a number of codes available on a first come, first served basis.
Also, for those that registered on the official website but didn’t get a code, Gravity Interactive will offer another chance to participate in the closed beta. As space allows, the company will randomly select from the pool of registered accounts and grant them access as the beta period progresses - so keep your fingers crossed.

GDC First Look Interview Requiem: Bloodymare
Posted by Shawn on Thursday, February 21st, 2008 at 1:50 pm under Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Games

Gravity Interactive’s Joon Yoon, Marketing/Public Relations Coordinator, and Bohle’s Derek Asato, Vice President, took time at GDC to give MMORPG a first look at their new adult MMO, Requiem: Bloodymare. Apparently, Age of Conan won’t be the only adult oriented MMO coming out. Requiem promises to live up what most gamers expect from an adult title; scantily clad warrior women, rampaging skeletons and zombies, and general Hell on virtual world.
…as the name suggests, its very bloody and very gory. Every swing of our character’s sword produced a spray of blood; deaths were heralded by flying limps and, on rare occasions, I was treated to the sight of creatures cut clear in half.
Players will role-play genetically engineered super soldiers in a post apocalyptic world of high magic, advanced technology and horrific monsters. Read the full impression on MMORPG.
Gross Out of the Day - New 'Bloodymare' Screens
Posted by Stephany on Saturday, February 16th, 2008 at 12:45 pm under Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games

We have been covering the new horror based MMO from Gravity Interactive Requiem: Bloodymare since January and while the premise of the game sounds wonderful, the new screens did nothing more than gross me out a bit.
It is high time that more horror based games were made, and by more I mean GOOD ones. Requiem: Bloodymare is promising to bring much needed blood and horror onto the MMO scene, but after looking at these new screens I am wondering how soon it will be before we are tired of hacking up meaty, vein-laden hunks of monsters that look like raw hamburger meat with miscellaneous body parts. Hopefully, the game will have more that just Clive Barker inspired entities. With this in mind, I am still planning on giving the game a shot.

NwN2 Early Update 1.12 Notes
Posted by Shawn on Friday, February 15th, 2008 at 4:29 pm under Bioware, Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Games
The Neverwinter Nights 2 forum over on BioWare has the first draft of the release notes for the anticipated 1.12 update. This update looks like a big one, with general fixes as well as many to custom content.
You’ll notice there are still a few critical issues missing such as the DM low-light/Night Vision Aura fix, the transition with familiars fix and the invisibility fix. Obsidian’s Community Coordinator Rob McGinnis has assured players that although nothing will be removed from the line up, fixes will be added as they pass the testing phase. The full draft follows the break.

Something Cthulhu This Way Comes
Posted by Shawn on Thursday, January 24th, 2008 at 6:22 pm under Bethesda, Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Games
Bethesda, a company that has paid homage to horror mastermind H. P. Lovecraft spotted a new movie preying upon the Film Festival Circuits; Cthulhu.
Unfortunately, the excitement of discovery was short lived. Although Tori Spelling leaves little to the imagination in the trailer, the clip really doesn’t seem to convey the visceral horror of Lovecraft’s ultimate force of evil. I haven’t seen the film, but I have little hope that it will live up to the high expectations set by the myriad of truly great horror videogames inspired by the Lovecraft mythos.
Quake, Alone in the Dark and Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem have all been touched by the slimy tentacles of Lovecraft’s worst nightmares. Bethesda’s interest is hardly coincidental. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is directly based on Lovecraft’s short story “The Shadow Over Innsmouth”. The company also included a side quest in Oblivion, “Shadow over Hackdirt”.
I hope I’m wrong and that Cthulhu will not be yet another example of a bad translation of story from books and videogames to film. Feel free to form your own opinion by watching the trailer.

Requiem: Bloodymare Trailer - Where's The Blood?
Posted by Stephany on Saturday, January 19th, 2008 at 1:47 pm under Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games, Videos

Gravity Interactive have released the official trailer for their upcoming “M” rated horror themed MMO Requiem: Bloodymare. Although still excited about this title, I am a bit disappointed that the trailer does not depict the blood and gore they have promised us. The screenshots they sent us last week looked so promising - full of decapitations, fountains of blood gushing forth from your foes, scantily clad drowish looking creatures, and disgusting monsters hell-bent on devouring your person. Why in the world did they not show this in the trailer? There is hardly anything shown in this video that warrants and “M” rating - you see tons of magic and hit effects flying about, and maybe once in a while a few blood droplets hit the camera - but that is it. Instead of a gratuitous blood soaked fightfest we get a video that is a bit blurry, the colors are washed out and the action happens so fast that one can scarcely blink lest something is missed.
Hopefully the next trailer they send us will be much better than this one - and by “better” I am hoping that it shows brighter colors, better editing, and more blood. If you are interested in seeing any other videos from this MMO, YouTube has a few character creation videos and a gameplay clips posted. I would have put them on here, but I do not know if they are “unauthorized” clips or legitimately ok to post. You view them here, and while we are on the subject of Bloodymare, you can check out our previous posts on the game by clicking here.
To view this trailer you have to go through and age gate so click here to view.
New Assets for Requiem: Bloodymare
Posted by Stephany on Friday, January 11th, 2008 at 8:12 am under Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games

On Saturday, Gravity Interactive sent us a press release regarding their upcoming MMO Requiem: Bloodymare, which promises to bring a bit of horror and nightmarish combat to online gaming. As promised, they have sent us some screens for the game and while they are impressive looking, I have to admit I was most pleased to see the body parts flying. Looking over these screens, you will understand immediately why this title is geared towards a mature audience, what with the decapitations, dismemberments, and pints and pints of blood. Nice.
Not only are the battle scenes graphically pleasing, the screens showing the nightmarish creatures that roam during the night and the shots showing off the visual differences between night and day in a city location, give you an overall pleasing first impression. Now, we only have to wait until March rolls around to finally delve first hand into the gameplay - and hopefully, it will be as gratifying as the screenshots. Gravity Interactive have promised us a trailer in the near future, so check back often to see what wonderful horrors lie in wait.
Requiem: Bloodymare - Bringing Blood and Horror to the MMO, Finally
Posted by Stephany on Saturday, January 5th, 2008 at 3:30 pm under Computer, Game Companies, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games, Games Industry

Gravity Interactive has decided to take a radically different direction from its past titles with the launch in March 2008 of Requiem: Bloodymare. This MMO which melds elements of horror, fantasy and sci-fi has been designed for a mature audiences only and promises to supply gamers with an intense bevy of violence and death. Hooray! Hurry up March!
In a world where the misuse of science and magic has warped the natural world into a twisted vision of death, the game is set in the land of Ethegia, where players take on the role of the Temperions. These beings were created, through genetic engineering and arcane rites, to engage in bloody combat with the walking nightmares stalking the land. Putting the Havok engine to use, Requiem: Bloodymare tells the sad, twisted tale of a realm where fallout from generations of scientific and mystical warfare has polluted the natural world and given birth to horribly mutated monsters. The battles between players and these grotesque creatures are rendered through sequences of bloody and gory graphics.
“We’ve dedicated more than four years of intense development to be sure Requiem: Bloodymare really brings something unique in the MMO market.” Peter Kang, CEO, Gravity Interactive, said. “We very consciously decided [that] when we started the project, we wanted to diversify our offering to include much more than the cute, anime inspired gameplay of our previous hits. Requiem isn’t a game for kids; this is for mature players that are looking for hardcore content that conjures up their deepest nightmares and fears.”
An interesting thing to note about Requiem: Bloodymare, is that it will bring several game mechanics into play that are a bit different than what some MMO players are used to. The time of day will be an extremely important factor for players under the ‘Nightmare System’ with powerful creatures awakening to terrorize the world at night. To defeat these challenges, players will be able to draw upon the ‘DNA System’ and the ‘Beast Possession System’ and use genetic engineering to modify their own DNA to obtain characteristics and abilities nature never intended. The mystic arts will enable players to possess and transform into different bestial beings with extraordinary abilities.
This sounds like an MMO I can get on board with, even if the teaser on the website did little to try and sway me one way or the other. A blood-soaked, intense, horror-based MMO is something that gamers like me have been in need of for quite some time. Gravity Interactive have assured us that screenshots and an actual trailer are headed our way soon, and when those assets hit our inboxes, we will be posting them asap. So check back often for more updates, and in the meantime, you can go over to the official website and view the teaser for yourself.

Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem Arrives for PSP
Posted by Jonathan on Thursday, November 15th, 2007 at 4:38 pm under Game Consoles, Games, Sierra, Sony, Videos

A new sci-fi action movie almost always involves a video game tie-in, and Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem is no exception. Sierra has announced that they have shipped a PSP game based on the movie to retailers nationwide today. The game will have you playing an elite Predator trying to eradicate all traces of the Aliens on Earth. Of course, there’ll be a few pesky humans to take out as well. You’ll have access to all of the Predator’s weapons and technology, including cloaking and different vision modes. There will also be a co-op mode, so you and a wireless companion can both play Predators trying to survive waves of attacking Aliens.
“The Aliens vs. Predator-Requiem movie promises to provide a thrilling experience, and we are very excited to get the adrenaline pumping before the big screen battle begins with this exclusive title for the PSP system,” said Pascal Brochier, president, Global Retail for Vivendi Games. “Twentieth Century Fox has been an excellent partner, and we are very proud to be giving the fans of the franchise this action-packed interactive extension of the AvP series.”
I’d normally completely dismiss a video game base don an upcoming movie, but this one has been developed by the same team that worked on the AvP games for the PC, which weren’t half bad; so who knows?

Editorial: Exploring Familiar Monsters in Games
Posted by Stephany on Wednesday, October 31st, 2007 at 8:39 am under Computer, Editorials, Features, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nintendo, Portable, Sony, Sony, Uncategorized
Halloween is here, and what better way to celebrate than by paying homage to some of the most notorious ghouls and monsters to grace our PCs and consoles? Without such cannon fodder as spiders, vampires and zombies we would be condemned to just shooting our fellow man, which although fun, would get old after a while. In compiling this list, I came across some notables worthy of an honorable mention, but who have yet to become mainstream enough to cross over into different genres, and instead continue to be pigeon holed within their niche. While this list is in no way a complete list of video game baddies, it is instead a list of some of the most common miscreants to get within our pistol sites or in the vicinity of our broadsword.
These distractions on our way to victory in our gaming universe are also not listed in order of importance or occurrence rate - because face it – one is just as annoying and evil as the other. Unfortunately, these monsters never get the glory that their bosses do, because they are nothing more than expendable minions set upon our paths to deplete our life force so that the main antagonist may continue with more important matters – World Domination. In truth, they become nothing more than something for you to enjoy chopping to bits or a vessel for extra health, magic, or cash, the poor, misguided fools. So without further ado, let me introduce you to the stars of this post.
