We’ve seen people make their own Master Chief helmets in the past — many, many people. But there are few out there who go so far as to recreate various armors found in the multiplayer. And there are probably even less who set out to make a special armor only given out to select players by Microsoft. So, this is probably the only actual helmet of the famed Recon armor in existence. Apparently, the person who made this doesn’t even have the in-game armor, so he decided to make his own. Don’t know if this will help him to get one, but I’m sure it’s a step in the right direction.
It is now official. I have definitive proof that idiots actually do breed and then beget new idiots to inhabit the planet. What is this proof you say? Over on eBay-that wonderful online marketplace- you never know what you may find, but you can bet the weirdos will be out in full force. Where else an you purchase Cindy Crawford’s panties, a ghost in a jar, or even purchase an 18-year old British girl’s virginity while bidding on used gum that came out of Britney Spears foul mouth? It is inevitable that if someone has something wacky, popular, or highly unusual to sell, some strange individual will purchase it – or in this case, fail to purchase it.
What has me in an uproar this morning, is a listing for a red Spartan Master Chief costume with helmet and assault rifle, that the seller will paint green for you if asked. As of September 20th, the winning bid was $21, 149 – which I am sure had the seller jumping for joy and to the point of an actual heart attack at the amount of loot his bank account would amass. Unfortunately the idiot who placed the winning bid, has stiffed the guy – thus the reason for my tirade at the beginning of this post. According to the feedback the seller left for the “winning bidder”, they guy is a total fraud.
Sometimes, dreams do come true in the world, and this particular incident just goes to show you how tight the gaming community as a whole really is. With all of the negative stereotypes and controversy surrounding the industry as of late, stories such as these kind of choke you up.
Reading, Pennsylvania – Game Crazy store #138492: A 17-year old High School student named Andrew Valentino – showed up in a homemade Master Chief costume, which took him two weeks to make and finished it about seven hours before before the launch of Halo 3. Andrew admits that he does not even own an Xbox 360 to be able to play Halo 3.
Well, apparently this did not matter to a competing Game Crazy store in Kenhorst, PA who offered the young Valentino $60 if he would go to their store instead for some fun and pictures. This in itself could be considered pretty cool from a 17-year old’s standpoint – but wait, it gets better.
A complete stranger in the store upon overhearing that Andrew, who went through the trouble of making his Master Chief costume and stood waiting in line for game that he did not even own a 360 to play on, actually bought the Andrew a 360 system. Refusing to divulge his name to media sources or even Andrew himself, this man’s random act of kindness sent waves of goodwill running through everyone who witnessed the event.
When Andrew was asked how he felt about such an unexpected gift, he stated: “Halo Nation is the best fan-based community I’ve ever seen. It’s amazing to see all of these people that I don’t know treat me like a celebrity. It’s almost as if they think I’m really Master Chief.”
Congratulations Andrew! That is indeed a wonderful thing to have happened – now, if only I can find a nice, giving soul to anonymously purchase me a PS3…..
Microsoft and Bungie are feeding gamers little tidbits and pieces of info leading up to the big September 25 Halo 3 release. It’s no wonder that some of them are practically foaming at the mouth with frustration and anticipation like sharks circling chum. It seems finally Microsoft is willing to spill some significant details about their regional Midnight Madness Events in New York City, Seattle, LA and Miami. And you thought the hype couldn’t get any higher. Read the full article
Just in time to cash in on all the Halo 3 hysteria, this full Master Chief costume has shown up on eBay. Okay, so it’s more like a generic Spartan’s armor, but it’s still really spiffy. The owner claims it is the most detailed suit around, and that’s pretty easy to believe from the look of things. The different pieces are made of a hard, durable urethane plastic, so it isn’t likely to fall apart any time soon. The getup also comes with a model assault rifle. Currently the bid is at a little over $4,000, and you can expect that number to rise in the next week. Still, that would certainly be one impressive Halloween costume.

Considering there’s not much hype surround the release of Halo 3, I thought I’d dig up something. The above clip is of a guy who made a Spartan costume out of Legos. My only question is why didn’t he go with green and do Master Chief? We’ll probabky never have the answer but it’s a cool clip anyway.
I’d like to take this time to apologize for the lack of Halo articles over the past couple of months. There’s really just not that much buzz about the game. Before anyone leaves some wacky comment, I am joking.
“Don’t call it a comeback. I’ve been here for years.”
Although many of us are waiting impatiently for probably what is considered this year’s first BIG game release, Bioshock; that many more (and then some) are impatiently waiting for what they would consider the THE biggest game release ever known to mankind. Ironically, the abnormal cult status of either title will undoubtedly ring in the trolls and haters. Regardless of which cult you’ve chosen to embrace (or as the typical rebel you’ve chosen the dark side paths of hate and apathy) deep down, even secretly, you have to admit that both titles will probably kick more ass than Jim Kelly in a blaxploitation film. Seriously, it’s ok to secretly admit that Halo 3 will kick ass. I certainly do. Just don’t let your best friend, who wears Master Chief replica armor to bed “because Master Chief sleeps in armor”, know that you do. Back on topic.
In a timely fashion, Bungie have provided a weekly update that teeters on the edge of Halo 3 information overload. Many of the topics discussed in this latest update were hinted earlier. Bungie seems to have gone in great detail discussing a lot of these new features that will probably make it into the final game.
I’ve summarized most of the topics covered in Bungie’s update as well as provided several brand new screenshots after the break:
