LEGO Batman `Alfred` Trailer

Over on the LEGO Batman website, Gotham is brimming with a series of new additions.

First, users of the website can choose their allegiance — Hero or Villain – as they explore the streets of Gotham and uncover the city’s secrets. These latest additions include the recently revealed heroes Alfred Pennyworth (video posted above), who is Batman’s trusted butler and friend - and Batgirl, who fights alongside the Dynamic Duo as they clean the streets of Gotham City.

As users make their way through the virtual streets and rooftops of Gotham City, they will also find new gameplay footage of the heroes and villains in action, as well as a sizzling batch of new and exclusive screenshots.

What’s more, users will find all-new widgets of Batman and the Joker. Once downloaded, these animated characters will live on a computer desktop and offer Gotham-inspired trivia. The widgets also include a timer that counts down the days, hours and minutes until the release of LEGO Batman: The Videogame.

The game is expected to be released on September 23 for the DS, PC, PS2, PS3, Wii, and Xbox-360. Europe and Australia can expect it to arrive around October 8.

With Warner Bros' Library at their Disposal Traveller's Tales is Working on More LEGO Games

gaming today

If you cannot get enough of the LEGO games, and feel that Star Wars, Indiana Jones and the upcoming LEGO Batman are just not enough to tame your cravings - take heart! Traveller’s Tales are working on more LEGO games to pacify your future cravings for plastic blocks.

During an interview with Variety, Traveller’s Tales president Jon Burton stated that the UK-based company is working on future LEGO titles which will be derived from intellectual properties owned by its parent company, Warner Bros.

You may recall that late last year Warner Bros. purchased Traveller’s Tales for $200 million, and it is due to this new relationship that Brurton feels compelled to work on other personal projects other than games.

“For me personally, I think further in the future we’re making a kids’ TV show…using some of the tech we’ve developed for games. In the mid-distance, personally, to be able to dabble around in CG and film would be interesting, and Warner allows me to push in those directions without ‘quitting the day job,’ so to speak.

So for me, to look to the future and think, ‘I wouldn’t mind [doing a film]…’ And Warner allows me to take a step in that direction, and if I suck? Great, I’ll make games.”

Burton did not go into detail on which Warner Bros. IP he was currently working on, but with such a vast library of titles it could be just about anything.  Because of this, I have come up with some of my own ideas of what I believe would be interesting LEGO titles.

E3 2008: Sony's Press Conference - The Best Yet

Posted by Jonathan on Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 at 6:15 pm under E3 2008, Features, Game Companies, Game Consoles, Games, Games Industry, Portable, Sony, Sony, Sony

Thus far, Sony’s has been the best press conference of E3 2008, hands down. Their turkey melts were delicious, as were the mini-quiches and those fruit drinks they were passing out. The wait staff was prompt and efficient, particularly around the open bar. All I had to do was say “beer,” and there’d be one in my hand within seconds. Oh yeah, and they talked about games or something like that, I think… Read the full article

E3 2008: LEGO Batman Introduces Killer Moth and Mad Hatter

Posted by Stephany on Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 at 4:16 pm under Computer, E3 2008, Game Companies, Gamer Life, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nintendo, Sony

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment presents recently revealed villains Killer Moth and Mad Hatter today.

The latest news from Gotham City reveals that two infamous villains have been spotted lurking around city streets and causing a twisted brand of mayhem. The first culprit, Mad Hatter, can hypnotize his enemies through his many varieties of hats. The winged menace, Killer Moth, uses his natural abilities to glide through Gotham in search of his most wanted prey, Batman and Robin.

This game sounds more and more fun everyday.

LEGO Batman: The Videogame - 'Hero or Villian?' Trailer is Adorable

Posted by Stephany on Monday, July 14th, 2008 at 2:01 pm under Computer, Game Companies, Gamer Life, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, Sony, Videos

I love Batman. Therefore I really want to play LEGO Batman because it combines my love for The Dark Knight along with the fun I have playing the LEGO videogames. The thing I enjoyed most about this video, is seeing Bane pick a cop up and break his back over his knee. Awesome.

This new trailer featuring gameplay footage from the upcoming title asks the gamer the question: “Will you save or destroy Gotham City?” Destroying it would be more fun to be quite honest, but whatever floats your boat I guess. Anyway, enjoy this fun and adorable video, and if you are interested in playing the game, it is coming to almost every gaming unit imaginable in September.

New Lego Batman Trailer Shows Poison Ivy and Bruce Wayne in Action

Posted by Jonathan on Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 at 9:18 am under Computer, Game Companies, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nintendo, Portable, Sony, Sony, Videos

Since I finished Lego Indiana Jones, I’ve actually been pretty psyched up for the next Lego-fied recreation from Traveller’s Tales, Lego Batman. I just can’t seem to get enough of little plastic guys beating each other into literal pieces. This newest trailer for the upcoming game shows off two more characters, Poison Ivy and Bruce Wayne, as they make their way around the block-based Gotham City. Here we get to see Poison Ivy’s amazing winking and hair flip moves, as well as Bruce Wayne’s briefcase attacks; plus his ability to bend time and space to fight alongside Batman.

(Note to all the other Batman fans out there: the anime shorts collection, “Batman: Gotham Knight,” hits store shelves today. Hopefully that’ll tide me over until The Dark Knight gets released.)

LEGO Batman Reveals Poison Ivy and Bruce Wayne

Posted by Stephany on Saturday, July 5th, 2008 at 1:48 am under Computer, Game Companies, Gamer Life, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nintendo, Sony

LEGO Batman just got a little bit more interesting today, what with the release of some screens for Poison Ivy and Bruce Wayne.

In the game, our favorite redheaded, villainous vixen Pamela Isley, is immune to all toxins, and became “Poison Ivy” to fight humanity on behalf of her beloved plants. Both devilishly evil and incredibly seductive, Poison Ivy can lure most men to do her bidding. Ivy tries to keep Batman off balance, alternating between deadly force and seduction. For his part, Batman is seldom thrown by Ivy’s tactics, his rigid training enabling him to keep focused on goals. Still, he respects her power and never underestimates her resourcefulness.

In the game, Ivy has the special ability to throw seeds where there are specific plant pots within the levels. Plants will grow out of these pots to create platforms. Poison Ivy also has the ability to blow love dust to security guards who then grant her access. Sound familiar?

On the other hand, not much is known about Batman’s true identity, Bruce Wayne. After his parents were killed by a mugger, Bruce Wayne dedicated his life to fighting crime. Training himself to the peak of mental and physical perfection, he became the Dark Knight protector of Gotham City, Batman!

In the game, he will be a playable character in the Wayne Manor bonus level, and that is all that is known for now, but more is promised to be revealed soon.

Enjoy the screens, there are plenty more after the jump.

Watch Nightwing Slap Some Bad Guys Around in the New LEGO Batman Trailer

Posted by Stephany on Friday, June 13th, 2008 at 11:53 am under Computer, Game Companies, Gamer Life, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nintendo, Sony, Sony, Videos

LEGO Batman: The Videogame `Nightwing` Trailer

Yesterday, Jonathan posted some screens from LEGO Batman featuring Bane, Clayface and Nightwing. Today we have a trailer up featuring Nightwing in all his glory. If you are unsure who Nightwing is, he was originally in the Superman comics, later had his own and has appeared in various incarnations over the years. His most recent one is best summed up by Wikipedia:

Nightwing (like his mentor Batman) has many different gadgets that he uses to defeat his enemies. Most of the gadgets are in the form of small boomerangs; some of them explode, some spread liquid nitrogen to freeze objects, and some are just sharp, which he uses to disarm but not kill. Along with his boomerangs he has a grappling gun, a taser and a retractable quarter staff which measures at six feet long at maximum length and one foot long at minimum length. Nightwing has trained in many different martial arts including Hapkido, Tae-Kwon-Do, Jeet Kune Do, Kumdo, Escrima, Tai Chi, Hapkido, Wing Chun, Aikido, Ninjutsu, Kempo, Karate, Jujutsu, and Judo. Nightwing is also an experienced gymnast and spent several years of his youth in the circus. Along with skills with gadgetry and martial arts, Nightwing is exceedingly intelligent. He uses his detective skills and tactics to out think physically superior opponents.

If I had tried to sum up Nightwing’s existence using my personal Batman and other comic book knowledge, it would have sounded like a college thesis so thanks to Wikipedia for making it easier on us all.

Enjoy the trailer.

Clayface, Bane, and Nightwing Revealed in New LEGO Batman Screens

Posted by Jonathan on Thursday, June 12th, 2008 at 12:40 pm under Computer, Game Consoles, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony

Ah, my knowledge of Batman lore — i.e. all those hours I spent watching the cartoon — seems to be paying off, since I can identify these three new characters in their LEGO-fied forms. A new batch of screens for LEGO Batman has revealed the characters of Clayface, Bane, and Nightwing. You can probably expect to be controlling these three characters at some point during the course of the game. And it’s still going to be pretty sad if this turns out to be the best Batman game in recent times.

You can check out all the new screens here.

LEGO Batman Introduces One Cool Customer - Mr. Freeze

Posted by Stephany on Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 at 11:20 am under Game Companies, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games, Portable

mr, freeze

In other LEGO Batrman news, or assets rather, Travellers Tales and Warner Bros. has sent over some screens featuring the cool Dr. Victor Fries, aka Mr. Freeze. You get to see him along side of Scarecrow in these new shots where Mr Freeze plans to plunge all of Gotham into an eternal winter unless Batman and Robin can thaw his plans.

Originally Mr. Freeze was called was Mr. Zero in the comic books but the 60’s era television series renamed him Mr. Freeze, therefore the moniker stuck with the character. Eli Wallach was just one of the actors who portrayed him the TV series and he was by far my favorite - therefore it would be really cool if he sounded like him. Well, considering all you usually hear are grunts and groans and a few squeals here and there in the LEGO games, that will not be possible. Too bad though, Wallach (The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly) was a fine actor in his day.

See Harley Quinn and the Joker in Action: New Trailer for LEGO Batman

Posted by Stephany on Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 at 9:46 am under Computer, Game Companies, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nintendo, Portable, Sony, Sony, Videos

LEGO Batman `Joker and Harley` Trailer

Warner Bros. and Travellers Tales has released a new trailer from LEGO Batman: The Videogame featuring footage of the Joker and Harley Quinn in all their hilarious and evil goodness. It is a pretty cute trailer, and this looks like it is going to be another fun LEGO adventure for all, full of fun, pretty colors, and general insanity.

LEGO Batman: The Videogame
is slated for a multiplatform release in September.

New Screens for LEGO Batman Reveal Harvey "Two Face" Dent

Posted by Stephany on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 at 12:03 pm under Computer, Game Companies, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nintendo, Portable, Sony, Sony

lego batman

Poor Harvey Dent. His campaign against crime ended when crime boss Sal “Boss” Maroni threw sulfuric acid in Dent’s face, horribly scarring and discoloring his left hand and the left half of his face. Tormented by his hideous reflection, he becomes not only a shadow of his former self, but a demented villain and changes his name to Two Face. This crazed former attorney uses the toss of his coin to decide whether he acts for good or evil in any situation. Unfortunately, the coin rarely lands on good.

While this may sound like a dire plotline, we can pretty much guess that it will be more light hearted if not down right comical when portrayed in the new LEGO Batman game where a stampede of notorious criminals have busted out of Arkham Asylum (the place where Gotham City houses only the shadiest of characters).

It’s up to the famed Caped Crusader to sweep Gotham clean of criminal activity using everything at his disposal, including crime-fighting vehicles as well as several baddie-bashing gadgets.

LEGO Batman is expected to be released in September on multiple platforms. You can view more of the new screens featuring Two Face and others by clicking here.

Catwoman and The Riddler Shown Off in New Trailer for Lego Batman

Posted by Jonathan on Thursday, April 17th, 2008 at 2:56 pm under Computer, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, Videos

LEGO Batman `Catwoman & Riddler` Trailer

Warner Bros. has unveiled a new trailer showing two of the villains from the upcoming Lego Batman game. Part of the game will have you working against the Dynamic Duo as different villains, like Catwoman and The Riddler. You’ll pretty much be doing the same sort of activities as any other part of the game — beating up people, solving puzzles, constructing odd Lego contraptions – but you’ll be dressed up some of Gotham City’s more unlawful residents. On a side note: this is probably the most action I’ve ever seen the Riddler get involved in. He usually just sets up an elaborate trap for Batman to stumble into rather than going out of his way to beat up hordes of people.

Play as the Villain in New Trailer for Lego Batman

Posted by Jonathan on Monday, March 3rd, 2008 at 3:38 pm under Computer, Game Companies, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Games, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, Videos

LEGO Batman Trailer 2

There’s a new trailer up now for the upcoming Lego Batman game. As you can expect, the general gameplay seems to resemble the Lego Star Wars games, just applied to the Batman world. As this trailer shows, besides controlling the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder, you’ll also be able to step into the shoes of their many adversaries. Each of the villains seem to be equipped with their own skills as well, whether it involves Catwoman’s whip or the Penguin’s umbrella. It’s actually going to be a little sad if this turns out to be one of the best Batman games ever, given the series’ rocky gaming history.

Harley Quinn to Appear in LEGO Batman

Posted by Stephany on Friday, February 15th, 2008 at 1:22 pm under Game Companies, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Gamer Life, Games

lego batmanLEGO Batman is shaping up to be just as fun and hilarious as you would expect it to be, and with the vast number of Super Villains included like Catwoman, The Joker, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, The Penguin , Scarecrow, and Two-Face, the addition of Harley Quinn (Dr. Harleen Quinzel) only solidifies it. I am still hoping that Poison Ivy makes an appearance and why wouldn’t she? Not only is she a cool villain who is smart, sexy and a redhead - she also works with Harley Quinn on occasion. We will just have to wait on the screenshots to see.

In LEGO Batman, Harley Quinn - The Joker’s partner in crime, appears in the Fairgrounds Villain level and one additional level yet to be announced and will be able to bypass security in all levels where security guards are sitting in booths, perform super jumps and walk a tight rope.

Traveler’s Tales has stated that LEGO Batman will be available for multiple platforms in the Fall, so check back often for updates. In the meantime, enjoy the new screens and look over our previous posts for more information, screens and trailers.

LEGOs + Super Mario Bros. = Super LEGO Mario Bros.

Posted by Daniel on Saturday, February 9th, 2008 at 10:03 am under Nintendo, Videos

Super Lego Mario (Level 1)

These days, when you think of LEGO and video games, you probably think of the hugely popular LEGO video game series (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman, etc.). But, what if someone LEGO-ized the grand daddy of all video games.

Super LEGO Mario recreates each level from the original Super Mario Bros. to a pretty accurate degree. The only complaint I have is there’s no sound when Mario jumps on a Goomba or Turtle, but that’s really nitpicking since the video is pretty amazing when you factor in how much work probably went into it. This video has awesomesauce drizzled all over it.

Level 1-2 comes after the break.
