Galactic Command Echo Squad SE Action Pack DLC
This DLC2 for Galactic Command Echo Squad SE contains the scenario from DLC1 as well as the additional content listed in the long description.
Halo Wars is one of those odd games that should be better received, an RTS set in the Halo universe featuring tons of units and vehicles from the expanded Halo canon and told with an interesting series of cut scenes and some fairly fun RTS missions. Unfortunatley I think far to many of the twitch oriented Halo gamers out there just can’t wrap their heads around strategy like an RTs and the RTS fans don’t live on the console, even if Ensemble Studio’s game does a pretty good job of translating the traditionally PC oriented experience to the console.
Regardless, those who found the swansong of the studio an enjoyable diversion will have more maps to play around with. The latest downloadable content pack includes 4 new maps and 4 new achievements for you achievement hounds out there – totaling 100 additional points. The new pack, called – “Historic Battles” will be available July 21st for 800 MS points.
800 Points for 4 maps? Seems a bit steep to me… maybe its just because of the extra achievements.
MapleStory is wooing main stream American youth with videos to air on television networks and as previews for the latest Harry Potter movie this summer. This brings MapleStory into the American public eye, the realm only pierced by Halo 3 and World of Warcraft so far. The 2D side-scrolling MMORPG is already pretty popular enjoying a 6 million strong player base in North America alone. It’s aimed at kids 10 and up, but has a very wide age range of players, most of whom seem to take their cute super-deformed characters pretty seriously.
MapleStory is a free to play MMO with a cash shop that allows players to purchase Nexon Cash to trade for premium items. MapleStory Nexon Cash cards have been available at local retailers like Target, CVS and Best Buy for a few years. The MMO has also spawned the MapleStory card game and videogames for the Wii and DS. Still MapleStory seems to be simmering just below the surface of casual gaming culture. Perhaps these new videos can tip MapleStory into the mainstream spotlight. Look for the video shorts to start appearing on tv and in theaters later this month. Until then, you can check it out for yourself at http://maplestory.nexon.net.

The Forge is one of those features that you wouldn’t naturally include in a console shooter but as the portion of the Halo 3 community who are not spending their time cussing while “p0wning n00bs” or griefing their own teammates on Orbital will tell you Forges’ map redecorating functionality allows for some pretty awesome redesigned Halo 3 combat maps.
To commemorate the growth of the Forge Cafe community over at Bungie.net, a collection of folks interested in taking the tools and sharing tips tricks and creations with each other, hitting its inaugural 75 member mark the organizers have announced their first map making challenge/contest.
Members of the Forge Cafe community can compete to create a themed Halo playground. Seriously a playground built up like a theme park using the tools, items and environments of the established maps. The map design contest is not centered around a playable experience however, merely an aesthetic goal of making a map in Forge that will allow players to see the fun of an Adventureland setting. Details of the contest and a link to the Forge Cafe can be found after the jump.
