Paradox Interactive has released a brand new series of screenshots along with a number of rendered desktop wallpapers for Elven Legacy, their upcoming PC fantasy/strategy game currently in development by 1C.
In the game, you are sent on an epic quest to restore the former glory of the Elven race via a nonlinear storyline and tools that allow players to create their own missions and campaigns and share them in multiplayer mode.
Elven Legacy is expected to be releases in March 2009. For more information, check out our previous posts and the FileFront game information page where the new screens are posted. MoreĀ wallpapers are can be found here.

Elven Legacy, the sequel to Fantasy Wars, is promising to deliver a world filled with magic and a nonlinear storyline, gauged to provide many hours of gameplay for strategy fans or just fans of Fantasy Wars. Through an epic quest aimed to restore the former glory of the Elven race, the game promises both depth and scope, and from the looks of the new screens we just go in–a colorful and inspirational one at that.
In the game you an play for elves or humans in two primary campaigns or for the orcs in a wide variety of bonus missions. Using the accompanying tools players may create their own missions and campaigns and share them in multiplayer mode.
The game features a new Elven race along with new opponents; unique character talents, spells and artifacts; improved AI (one of my beefs with Fantasy Wars) additional maps for multiplayer mode, role development of characters and units, and various tactical opportunities.
Elven Legacy is expected to be released sometime in March 2009, so until then check out the very pretty screens for the game here and here. I am hoping that they fixed all the bad things about Fantasy Wars this time around, because I am really wanted to give it a try.

The footage features the two main characters from Elven Legacy, Gylwen the Sorceress and ranger-lord Seagate, as they clash with enemy forces. In addition, several of the 100 troop types available in the game are highlighted, illustrating the combat features of the game. The trailer also includes a glimpse of the gameplay settings players will enjoy during the multitude of missions in the game.
In the game, players are sent on an epic quest aimed to restore the former glory of the Elven race. Interestingly, the non-linear storyline and tools allow players to create their own missions and campaigns and share them in multiplayer mode.
Elven Legacy is scheduled for release in March 2009.

You may recall that back in November, Moscow’s 1C Company acquired Akella’s “Sea Dog” in-house development studio, and now we receive word that 1C has also purchased Russian developer Ino-Co, the team behind Fantasy Wars and Star Wolves. The studio will be renamed 1C: Ino-Co, and the good news is that they are currently working on a Fantasy Wars sequel titled Elven Legacy, which is slated for release sometime in 2008 and are working on two other projects as well.
This new acquisition has buffed up the 1C Company’s game portfolio which also includes the IL-2 Sturmovik, Pacific Fighters and Theatre of War titles. With a PC publishing division based in Prague, a deal to publish titles for Atari and joint ventures with Fireglow Games, the 1C Company is definitely one Central and Eastern European publisher whose star just keeps getting bigger and brighter.
