So every week for awhile the writers all over the new looking for a simple quick movie to plug into their gaming news site flocked like rabid sheep over to online game magazine The Escapist for the witty and acerbic commentary put to film by Internet personality and slapdash game designer Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw. Yahtzee’s weekly poke, jab and lancing of the festering boils of gaming left no game unscathed and is still one of the more enjoyable forms of critique out there.
The Escapist choose to expand their video offerings with a few new segments, one of these – Unskippable – is a tribute to the classic overdubbing comedy of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 gang – except their subject matter is video game cut scenes and trailers instead of horribly bad B-movies like Ator the Fighting Eagle.
Unskippable is a little hit or miss but anyone who enjoys making fun of this wonderful hobby of ours will soon find that you’re not the the only person out there who talks back at the screen during an interminable Metal Gear Solid Expositional Cut Scene. This week the Unskippable guys take a crack at three E3 trailers.. Final Fantasy XIV Online, Edge of Twilight and long in development online FPS Huxley.

Fuzzyeyes, the developers of the upcoming RPG, steam-punk fantasy title Edge of Twilight for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 have stated that any action taken by your character in the game will have some sort of consequence – whether the action was good or evil.
Head-developer Wei-Yao Lu said has this to say about the blurred lines of making choices:
“A lot of games that blur the lines between good and evil will focus more on giving you two choices that are obviously good and bad. What we’re doing is putting the player in a world were nothing is, or has been, done without justification. A lot of the atrocities in the game (as well as the good things) are things that we see in our own world and in our own societies. There are two sides to every story, basically.”
In the game, your play as Lex the amoral bounty hunter who is an outcast halfbreed of light and dark factions who is the world’s only hope from slipping into eternal darkness. The game will allow you to shape the world by your actions and when you exploring side quests, the more you explore, the more likely that it will become part of the main story. Your character will also become a different person depending on which realm you are currently in and the ability to customize Lex is vast. New moves, combos, finishing moves, and various other upgrades will be available.
“As the day persona, reflecting the industrial race, you’re strong and forceful with the ability to operate machinery, break the scenery and bludgeon enemies in a manner tha’s less than graceful. As the night persona you represent the spiritual race and your movement is much more swift and agile, opening up new areas to explore, and your fighting style also reflects this. Many environments will require you to use both of these abilities and your brain to find an exit, which allowed us to make some mind-bending environmental puzzles that span over the two realms.”
When asked what games he could compare Edge of Twilight to, Wei-Yao Lu had this to say:
“Personally, I would say that gameplay-wise we’d be the love child of ICO, Soul Reaver and God of War. But as far as the art direction goes I really can’t think of anything similar.”
Those are some big shoes to be trying to fill, but really cool shoes nonetheless. Edge of Twilight is due out next year so check back often for updates.

Back in September, we told you about Fuzzyeyes Studio’s latest project Edge of Twilight, but where unable to get you a release window or publishing details because it had neither at that point and time. Today, however, we received news that SouthPeak would be the publisher and Edge of Twilight would be hitting the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime next year. Why does it always seem that the games you would be the most interested in are always coming “sometime next year”? As long as the time is well spent on developing a great quality game that will give the player a fun and memorable experience, that is all well and good, but it still sucks having to wait.
Edge of Twilight puts the player in the shoes of Lex, an outcast bounty hunter who finds himself caught between clashes of two polar opposite civilizations. The world in which he resides, Hellayem, has been torn apart into two separate realms of Day and Night and Lex must travel through these two parallel realms drawing on mystic powers and his agility while uncovering the dark secrets and mysteries that shroud his fractured world.

Sometimes, I find some really interesting lots for sale on eBay. Doing a little searching today, I came across a lot of 400 video games for $3,199.99 + Shipping (US $250, Canada $400). That works out to about $8.62 per game if you have it shipped to the United States. Keep in mind that a majority of the games are for the PS2 and original Xbox. I’m not sure what a collection like this would cost you at a store like GameStop for example, but I think the price would actually be pretty close. I wouldn’t classify this as a great deal, but it would be sweet to have all these games in your collection. If the price were closer to say $2,000 for all 400, I’d consider buying it myself.

Edge of Twilight is a third-person action adventure game developed for the PC and Xbox 360 with a post apocalyptic, steampunk fantasy world. The game takes place in a world where Day and Night have been torn apart into two separate realms. Lex, an outcast bounty hunter caught amidst the clash of two polar opposite civilizations – the industrial Atherns, and the spiritual Lithern – must travel through the two parallel realms drawing on mystic powers and his agility while uncovering the dark secrets and ornate mysteries that shroud the fractured world of Hellayem.
So far, neither a publisher or release date have been announced for Edge of Twilight, but the screenshots are impressive, and the amount of game detail on the website makes this game a bit of an easy sell for gamers who love the fantasy genre. Check back often as updates arrive on this title from Fuzzyeyes Studios – we have provided you with a more in depth storyline as well as some game features after the jump.

Link shows off his special moves in the Super Smash Bros. DOJO! Link is based on the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game, and so are these signature moves. Link can side swipe his opponents with his Gale Boomerang. The move captures the target in a mini cyclone and brings them in closer for further tenderizing. Link also has a rapid fire Hero’s Bow move and can lob bombs at competitors with his down special move aptly named, Bomb. Link can charge up his whirlwind blade with his up special move the Spin Attack.

Finally link has his own tether recovery grab move called the Clawshot. This maneuver can save you from a nasty fall provided your close enough to the edge to sink those claws in.

In a surprising move, Spider-Man 3 is still on top. Do the kids have nothing else to rent?
I don’t have any vindictive nature or malice toward the video game, but it’s just when I see that, I ask the same question as when I see the top 10 movies that are out. Which is, “Really?”
I guess I’m just a pretentious snob. Anyway, here’s the chart:
