A video preview of Dragonball Z: Burst Limit shows off the first Dragonball Z game to make it to next gen consoles. The game is out for both the PS3 and the Xbox360 giving gamers a shot at battling online. Although house parties are great, it’s definitely a way to save gas.

Do you like kicking the crap out of your friends in the guise of a gloriously animated cartoon?

Well step this way for Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit, the first game for the enormous DBZ franchise to make it to the seventh gen consoles.

Prepare for gorgeously hammy cut-scene action and some decent fighting action, with plenty of combos and some zany moves.

Enjoy!

uranus PlayStation Store 5/15: It Came From Uranus!

A title like that doesn’t write itself very often, so I’m happy to take advantage. The new Rocketmen expansion pack, It Came From Uranus, is now available on the PlayStation Store. You’ll also now find two new Hot Shots Golf characters, each of which cost $.99, and are small enough that I reckon they’re already on the Blu-ray disc you hold in your hands.

Rounding out the DLC scene is this week’s installment of Rock Band tracks and 21 new Karaoke Revolution: American Idol tracks.

You’ll also find demos of both Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit and Overlord Raising Hell, new videos, trailers, themes, and wallpapers.

Hit the break to see all of the today’s new content.

Demo for Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit Now on Xbox Live

dragonballburstlimit1 1 Demo for Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit Now on Xbox Live

Well, DBZ fans, looks like you can finally get a taste of the next game in your beloved franchise. A new demo for Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit has just hit Xbox Live today. Even though the last DBZ fight, Budokai Tenkaichi 3, offered visuals rivaling those of the actual anime series, it looks like this next-gen game will improve on the graphics even more with flashier effects and more realistic settings. I’m not sure what changes — if any — have been made in terms of gameplay, but I’m also pretty sure none of that matters to all the Dragon Ball fans out there.

Famitsu Reveals Wii Haruhi Game In Development

suzumiya haruhi des by jesuke Famitsu Reveals Wii Haruhi Game In Development

Aside from gaming, I am a big fan of animes.  That is why I was excited to hear a new Haruhi game was being developed for the Wii.  If you’ve been keeping tabs on Haruhi’s video game escapades, you’d know a PS2 game was released a couple of months back which was nothing more than a sim of the anime.

The Haruhi game for the Wii though will be a cosplayer’s delight.  It will be a rhythm based dance game similar to Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution.  Yes, you heard right.  All of you closet anime fans who have been practicing the Hare Hare Yukai dance night after night in your bedroom will finally be able to perform it and get positive reinforcement for doing it rather than the usual reaction.  It’s OK if your parents think you’re weird… we still think you’re cool pal.

Don’t get your hopes up on this title hitting stateside though.  There’s been no official announcement yet, but the way I see it, if Atari can churn out Dragon Ball Z games more than Capcom churns out Mega Man games, I don’t see why somebody couldn’t throw American gamers / anime fans a bone and localize this game.

New Dragonball Z Video: Krillin vs. Goku

New gameplay of Dragonball Z Burst Limit surfaced today on YouTube showing Goku and Krillin fighting. The game is releasing for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on July 15, 2008 for Japan and the US. I haven’t actually played any Dragonball Z games since the PS2 and can’t help but notice that the game really doesn’t look all that “next-generation”. I’m looking forward to checking out the game and hope it has more to offer than what I have seen so far.

Dragon Ball Z Flies Into the Next Gen with “Burst Limit”

dragonballburstlimit1 1 Dragon Ball Z Flies Into the Next Gen with Burst Limit

Yeah, yeah, I know Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was released on the Wii awhile back (I reviewed its PS2 counterpart). But let’s face it, the Wii doesn’t exactly deliver “next gen” in the graphics department. To remedy this however, Atari has announced Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit, which promises to bring the game’s graphics into the next generation on the PS3 and Xbox 360. So how do you improve on graphics that already look exactly like it’s cartoon inspiration? Mostly by providing more realistic settings and flashier special effects, such as the shiny sphere of death pictured above. The new game will also support online features so you can battle others online. No word yet on which characters will be playable, but since the last game included every single character from the series, it wouldn’t surprise me if they all got everyone involved in the fray once more.

Gaming Today Reviews Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (PS2)

dragonballz3box1 1 Gaming Today Reviews Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (PS2)

Writing a review for Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 seems a little pointless, seeing as the people most interested in the game have probably already snatched up a copy, played through it several times, and are now arguing all over the internet about who can beat who with Goku the most. But, nevertheless, a review copy of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 found its way to my mailbox, so here I am. There are moments in life where you just stop and ask yourself, exactly how did this happen? Opening a random package to find that I am the new owner of a Dragon Ball Z game, despite my complete and utter lack of knowledge on the anime series, is certainly one of those moment. However, I have to say, for a game that I knew nothing about going into it, this one isn’t half bad. Read the full article

Atari Might be Doomed After $12M Q1 Loss

atari logo Atari Might be Doomed After $12M Q1 Loss

Atari’s been doing very poorly from a financial standpoint for some time now, with a loss of $0.54 per share during 2006 – a figure which has now increased to a loss of $0.89. With revenues at just $19.5 million last year during the same period, that number has nearly been cut in half to $10.4 million.

Things aren’t looking for the old goliath.

Executives revealed yesterday that, following a loss of $11.9 million in Q1, they cited “substantial doubt about [their] ability to continue as a going concern.”

And understandably so. The company no longer owns the rights to some of its more popular franchises, including Driver and Stuntman, and just recently the rights to Dragonball-Z were demanded back by FUNImation. As 1UP points out, the only series Atari has left are Dungeons & Dragons and Alone in the Dark, neither of which seem strong enough to keep the company afloat. At this point, it seems like more of an issue of “when,” rather than “if.”

New Trailer for Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 Trailer #3

Here’s a new trailer for the upcoming Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for the Wii and PS2. The video basically shows off a whole lot of gameplay footage and a few brief cinematic clips. Oddly, only the Wii version of this game will feature online play. The game looks cool enough, but what is up with that terrible music they put over it? Seriously, it makes my ears bleed.

Gaming Today Q&A: Jack Liu of Rumble Fighter

rumble fighter

In case you haven’t heard of Rumble Fighter, it’s the free to play action game focused on fighting from OGPlanet. Recently, Gaming Today was lucky enough to sit down with Jack Liu, the Cofounder and Chief Creative Officer at OGPlanet, to ask him a few questions regarding this fun martial arts inspired game with its patented “Exocore” system.

GT: Please introduce yourself and tell our readers a little about Rumble Fighter.

Jack Liu: Hello Gaming Today, I’m Jack Liu – Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer at OGPlanet. Since OGPlanet is a video game company, being the chief creative dude pretty much means I get to dabble in everything the company does – from game localization and production, to overseeing our community department and marketing strategy. But ultimately, my job is simply to make sure all of our players have as much fun as possible when they launch one of our titles. This makes me really excited to introduce our newest online game – Rumble Fighter. On the surface, Rumble Fighter is a melee style fighting game, featuring up to 8-player battle modes where players can either gang up in teams, or duke it out on their own in true last-man-standing fashion. But what really sets this title apart from any other online fighting game is in the customization options players have when building their fighters. Not only can you alter your appearance (facial features, costumes, accessories, etc.), but Rumble Fighter features a “Sacred Scroll” system that allows players to choose from a wide variety of actual fighting methods, each with their own distinct style and special combo moves. Like ninjas? Then go with Ninjitsu. Dig Bruce? Then go with Jeetkundo. From Taekwondo to Kungfu, classic Boxing to Jujitsu, Rumble Fighter gives players the freedom to create their version of the ultimate fighter. The entire game is free to play but features upgradeable items that can either be bought with in-game points (known as Carats), or with OGPlanet’s universal cyber-cash (Astros). Players can upgrade their fighters purely through the use of Carats by simply collecting them as they play, but may choose to spend some real money for premium items that are not available for Carats. The beauty of this system is that it allows players to decide how much they want to spend, if anything at all, within Rumble Fighter.
