NIS America has put out a warning that Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice for the PS3 has been unleashed upon stores. The third iteration of this darkly comical tactical RPG adds a new netherworld campus setting for an even more twisted take on the Disgaea world. You can get more details on your favorite scoundrels on the official Disgaea 3 website.
I’ve been looking forward to Disgaea 3 for a long time. Unfortunately, when I checked my local GameStop last night, they didn’t have it or TALES OF VESPERIA which is also just out. I’ll have to wait a little longer to see if Mao can mend his wicked ways and defeat the Overlord.
It’s time for me to be reminded about how badly I was ripped off with an annual subscription — that’s right, it’s time for the third episode of Qore! This month’s is special in that it’ll guarantee you access to the Resistance 2 beta. Annual subscribers will get in on the “premiere” status beta, which is just a fancy way of saying you’ll get in earlier than those who opt to purchase this single episode of Qore.
In the world of downloadable content, there’s a new track ($3.99) and several skin packs ($2.49 each) for NASCAR 09, a team mode add-on for Snakeball ($1.99), and new tracks for both Rock Band and Guitar Hero III.
One other noteworthy release is the PlayStation Home theme which, as we informed you earlier, will automatically enter you for a slot in the Home beta. You’re not guaranteed a spot, but this is currently the only way to get into the beta as it expands in late August.
Atlus announced today the release dates for the three highly-anticipated titles from publisher NIS America.

KOEI today announced the release of Soul Nomad for the PS2 which will expand upon the Disgaea games with a brand new innovative battle system. Soul Nomad combines the strategy of tactical RPGs with command based battles that put the controls at the player’s finger tips and is scheduled for release in June. While American gamers have been able to play the game since last year, the release was delayed in Europe.
Just in case you are unfamiliar with Soul Nomad, here is the full rundown:
When an enemy emerges that is far too powerful for the good guys to defeat you do the only decent thing and sell your soul to the devil. Well, actually to someone worse than the devil. You strike a deal with your old arch enemy. And in return for some truly awesome power you’re giving your soul away to him one little piece at a time. How much power you wield and how much of your own body you give up to the ultimate incarnation of evil is totally up to you.
With a full army at your disposal battles are now an exciting combination of vast grid based battlefields and nerve shredding real time combat. By making the best use of your battlefield recon reports you have complete freedom to place your squads and take advantage of the terrain and ultimately inflict embarrassing defeat upon anyone who stands in your way.
You have total freedom to create your own army of terror and bestow each unit with their own unique talents and abilities. You can even try to press gang innocent townsfolk into your army. The entire world is your playground and you can be as good or as bad as you like.
Soul Nomad follows in the footsteps of the titles Makai Kingdom, Phantom Brave, and the critically acclaimed Disgaea series.
Cross stitching isn’t something that comes to mind when you think about gaming, but there’s a first time for everything. I’m not even a fan of cross stitching, but I can certainly respect it as an art form. One thing I am certainly a fan of is Disgaea.
The timing worked out perfectly with this cross stitch, as it can now be considered a way to celebrate the great news of Disgaea for the DS. It is a standard blue prinny from the original Disgaea PS2 title. I’ve always adored the prinnies and thought they were adorable, plus I’d wanted to try a more advanced sprite, so it seemed like a perfectly natural choice for a cross stitch pattern.
Earlier this week, Famitsu reported that the highly popular strategy RPG title Disgaea was headed to the Nintendo DS but other that tidbit of information, not much else was known.
Today, however, we received a press release from NIS America that Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (NOT Prince of the Demon World and the Red Moon) will be released sometime in July.
In order to fully utilize Nintendo DS’s capabilities, several key improvements will be made to the user interface and game system, and while Disgaea for the DS will have the same basic concept as other strategy RPGs, many unique features and enhancements made to the game have been called “unprecedented”.
Following are some of the special features of Disgaea: Hour of Darkenss:
Geo Panels – A group of stat altering elemental properties that are placed upon certain parts of the battlefield. When there are one or more colored panels on the battle grid, it means an element can affect that area. The effect can boost or reduce your unit’s stats.
Geo Cubes – Geo Cubes are magic items that add more depth to multiplayer battles. You can use the various Geo Cubes to enhance your abilities, summon monsters, or even attack your enemies with them.
Demon Gadgets – Randomly generated items that appear on the battlefield. By acquiring these gadgets, you can power-up your units. Some demon gadgets can level your unit up by 30 levels at once.
Transmigration – A form of reincarnation that allows you to start over from level 1, but your unit will grow stronger than before.
This is great news for Disgaea fans. For more information check back often and enjoy the screenshots.
According to the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Disgaea is most definitely coming to the Nintendo DS. Roughly translated as Disgaea DS: Prince of the Demon World and the Red Moon, we will be sure to keep you posted as more on this develops. In the meantime, you can check out anything and everything we have every mentioned about Disgaea on Gaming Today right here.
Puchi Puchi Virus Developer: Jaleco Publisher: NIS America Price: N/A (Expected to be $19.99 or $29.99) Platform: Nintendo DS Category: Puzzle Action ESRB Rating: E Release Date: 5/20/2008
If you know anything about NIS America, you know the majority of their titles up until now have been mostly RPG-style games on Sony systems. Late last year though, NIS America revealed they were working on a puzzle game for the Nintendo DS which pretty much are two things they aren’t known for. If you’re a fan of NIS America’s humorous Disgaea series and love simple, yet complex puzzle games, then check out my impressions of Puchi Puchi Virus after the break.
