NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER TITLES LISTED AFTER THE BREAK
Sega has released all-new screenshots and videos of the upcoming games Bleach: Shattered Blade for the Wii and Bleach: The Blade of Fate for the DS and both Bleach titles will be released on October 9th.
On the Wii, players will select from 32 of their favorite characters from the anime series and two players can battle each other in vigorous swordfights. Developed by Treasure, in the DS version, players will fight on a variety of multi-plane 2D arenas, and switch between the foreground and the background battlelines to chase after or escape from opponents. Players can also customize and manage their deck of over 50 Power-up Cards for boosts to Health, Attack and Defense, and much more. In both the Wii and DS versions, each character has unique special attacks and techniques and is voiced by the actors from the anime series currently airing on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim.

Everyone loves lists, and within this list is something everyone can love. Below you will find complied release dates for games coming out in October. The dates listed are as current as possible, so if a publisher changes the date we will try our best to update the list. We are well aware that September still has a couple of weeks left, give or take, but we just want to help plan your lives for the next month or two. Who loves you baby?
In Bleach : Shattered Blade, players will be able to inflict enormous damage on opponents with powerful weapons and super power attacks taken straight from the TV series. Characters can summon supernatural allies such as a giant serpent, a samurai titan, or a tidal wave, for battle support. Players can also square-off against their friends in high-speed multiplayer combat in 3D arenas and environments based on settings from the series.
Bleach: The Blade of Fate is a 2D action game for the Nintendo DS where players will face a variety of opponents as one of 28 characters in battles based on the animated series. A new kind of battle system incorporates the ability to move between upper and lower split-plane battle arenas to chase after or escape from opponents. Bleach: The Blade of Fate also allows gamers to build Spirit Card Decks to strategically access power-ups and power-downs to perform special attacks, cast healing spells on themselves, displace opponents, or prohibit them from using their own Spirit Cards. Additionally, gamers can take to the streets battling against enemies in combat via the Nintendo DS’ Wi-Fi capabilities.

Sega has stated that both Bleach: Shattered Blade (Wii) and Bleach: The Blade of Fate (DS) will be available in stores on October 9th.
One of our favorite international magazines, Famitsu, has released their scores for Halo 3 and they aren’t too bad. I was expecting more 10s, but the ratings are still high.
Famitsu’s scores for Halo 3:
10/9/9/9
Will Halo 3 be the greatest FPS style game of all time? Only time will tell, but it certainly looks like it will end up being somewhere in the top 10 of all time. Halo 3 will be grand, but will also have strong competition from Call of Duty 4. From what I have seen, I would give Halo 3 a 10 myself, but COD4 is looking like a strong 10 as well.
In addition to Halo 3, the following games received ratings in the latest Famitsu: Read the full article
Bleach: Shattered Blade offers an exclusive storyline created specifically for the Wii with 32 characters to choose from. Once a new character is unlocked, players can replay the story episodes utilizing the characters special moves and weapons adding a whole new perspective to the storyline. For those unfamiliar with this popular animated title, here is the stroyline:
” Bleach follows fifteen-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki who has the power to see spirits from the afterlife, including warriors known as Soul Reapers. The Soul Reapers are tasked with defending humans from otherworldly beings called Hollows. One fateful day, Ichigo meets Rukia, a Soul Reaper who lends him her powers after she’s injured by a Hollow. In the game, players will progress through an exciting storyline facing increasingly difficult opponents in their quest to uncover the truth.”
Sega will be releasing Bleach: Shattered Blade on October 9th for the Wii. For more information, check out our previous posts.
Most gamers know the feeling: you get hooked on some particularly engrossing game so much that it begins to seep its way into your usual thought processes. It’s inevitable really if you spend too much time doing any one task, game-related or not. I myself have experienced the grips of a Tetris addiction, that had me seeing falling blocks as I tried to go to sleep and mentally rearranging the books on a teacher’s desk to form lines. That’s probably why I found this short list from GamerNode on “Games That Warp Your Sense of Reality” particularly interesting. Tetris is of course their primary example, but they also list a number of more recent titles, like The Darkness and Guitar Hero. It’s a good list, but I still think I would add a few of my own: Read the full article
This trailer for Bleach: Shattered Blade just came in and it looks sweet. I may have to dust off the old Wii a bit when this title hits the shelves. I’ve been saying for a while that the Wii lacks a well rounded game library and this could be one of many games that starts to slowly flip my opinion of the system.
I’d love to see more fighting games head to the Wii platform. The more that do, the more excited I will get when it comes to the potential of the system. We’ll just have to see what happens, but after watching this trailer, I’d have to say that my opinion of the Wii just got bumped up a notch.
Bleach: Shattered Blade for the Wii enables gamers to wield the Wii Remote and Nunchuk as their weapons – slashing, jabbing, and lunging in furious battles like a real Soul Reaper.

Yesterday, William made fans of the anime series Bleach ecstatic when he broke the news that there was a Wii and DS game in the works. Sega was kind enough to send us some screens today of Bleach: Shattered Blade, although a release date did not accompany them. The game has been available in Japan since December 2006, so the US should see a version sometime this year. In the meantime, enjoy the screens and some specs for the Wii version.

Fans of the anime series ‘Bleach’ now have good news to look forward to. Sega is currently developing North American titles of the series for the Nintendo Wii and DS systems. The Wii is in desperate need of good titles, and this looks like a great one to add to the library.
“Bleach offers both fans and newcomers alike an action-packed arcade experience that delivers fast-paced swordplay in the tradition of the animated series’ intense action sequences,†said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. “Bleach is an exciting and highly anticipated property that translates extremely well to the versatility of the Wii Remote and the DS’ portable gameplay, and SEGA is proud to be the first to bring the video game series to the North American audience.â€â€œWe are thrilled to be partnering with SEGA for the Bleach Wii and DS games,†states Linda Espinosa, Vice President, Content Management, VIZ Media. “The SEGA games have enjoyed immense success in Japan, the manga is a top seller in both the Japan and US, and we are expecting great fan response when these games release.â€
