The Sony press conference for E3 2009 is set to prepare gamers for the return of a juggernaut. Sony’s had a tough year for its PS3 console, but things are looking up. This is Sony’s year to make the most expensive console on the market profitable. With God of War III, Heavy Rain, Batman Arkham Asylum, Modern Warfare 2 and MAG on the horizon, this year’s E3 press conference promises to give gamers a reason to pick up a PS3. I’ll be blogging live as Sony wows gamers with 364 new PS3, PSP and PS2 titles. Check out the running commentary after the break.
When you think of piracy lately, Spore comes to mind more so than anything else, and according to a post over on Actiontrip– Electronic Arts and Will Wright’s huge hit Spore is the biggest pirated game of 2008. I wonder if it has anything to do with the hoopla caused by the DRM restrictions EA imposed upon the title?
Whatever gamers reasoning for pirating these titles is, they are all listed in the order of most to least with the release date of the game next to the title. While looking this over, some of you may recall all of the money that Ubisoft claims they lost when Assassin’s Creed for the PC was pirated. The main reason that Assassin’s Creed was so highly pirated according to a lawsuit brought against OEM by Ubisoft, was because an employee took home a copy of Assassin’s Creed and uploaded it onto the internet six weeks before the game shipped in April 2008. Ubisoft claims that this led to over 700,000 pirated downloads of the title. Well, now that number is up to 1,070,000. Wow, just wow.
Ubisoft has announced that Prince of Persia has gone gold for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and will be released on consoles December 2 and the PC December 9.
With interesting looking storyboard-style graphics, you play the (as usual) the Prince of Persia who finds himself caught in a battle between the primal forces of light and darkness: the God of Light, Ormazd versus his brother Ahriman, the destructive God of Darkness. The Prince arrives just in time to witness the destruction of the legendary Tree of Life – an act which threatens to plunge the entire world into eternal darkness. Manifested in the form of the Corruption, a dark substance (goo looking stuff) that physically contaminates the land and the skies, the Prince must partner with Elika to heal the world from the evil Corruption.
Want to spice up your game a bit with more Middle Eastern flair? Once you have a copy of Prince of Persia in your warm, sticky hands, you can link your Ubisoft account to your PSN screen name or Xbox Live Gamertag to gain access to an exclusive reward: The game skin of Altair from Assassin’s Creed. This really does not seem like much of a stretch considering the majority of us who played Assassin’s Creed thought that the Prince and Altair were a bit similar in some instances anyway.
To create a Ubisoft account, visit the Prince of Persia website here and once you begin playing the game, you will be able to immediately unlock this exclusive reward.
Screens for the Altair skins are posted after the jump.
No Mutants Allowed is one of the most infamous fan communities around. Their dedication to Fallout is as stalwart as their objections to Bethesda producing Fallout 3. I expected a review from the infamous Vince D. Weller to be highly critical to say the least.
I wasn’t disappointed. What I didn’t expect is to agree with him on several points including his estimation of the VATS system although I enjoy it immensely. The system results in some incredible displays of chunky death.
Before you get the idea that Weller’s review is too biased to be fair, you should read the Fallout 3 review in its entirety. Weller doesn’t spare the weaknesses but also spotlights the strengths of the game.
“Compared to the first two Fallout games, Fallout 3 is a pale imitation that may anger many fans of the original games. However, comparing Fallout 3 to similar games like Morrowind, Oblivion, Gothic, Two Worlds, Assassins Creed, etc presents a much more favourable reaction. I think that it’s the best game Bethesda have produced since the Daggerfall days and that really says something about the game. The most important feature of the game is the promise of great things to come from Bethesda in the future… God knows, it’s been long overdue.”
