Command and Conquer 4 Announcement Trailer
This is the announcement and reveal trailer for Command and Conquer 4, the real-time strategy title that will bring the Tiberium series to a close.
1C Company has sent us 16 brand new screenshots from their upcoming Theatre of War 2: Africa 1943. The things you’ll notice immediately are how lovely they look for a WWII game (which has been done to death) and you will also notice the fully destructible environments, and the engagement ranges.
This real time strategy game focuses on the actual German operations in Tunisia that occurred during World War II in 1943. Recovered from losses after their defeat at Al-Alamein, German Afrika Korps, supported by Italian military contingent and new powerful weapons, marched against the Allies. The German troops were, commanded none other than General Rommel, had the chance for a quick victory. However, their military operations were severely prolonged, and the plans of the German general were about to fail.
Players will have the option to lead the German Afrika Korps of Rommel in their last full-scale attack or be at the head of the opposing English and American armies. Which side will you choose? Allies or the Germans? It won’t matter either way, because if you are an RTS fan or a WWII gaming buff, you will have fun either way probably.
Theatre of War 2: Africa 1943 does not have a set release date yet, but as soon as we know more we will be sure to let you know. In the meantime, you can check out the current recommended PC requirements after the jump. You can also view the news screens released for the game here.
According to PS3 Fanboy, National Geographic will be publishing Sony’ PS3 exclusive Afrika in the U.S.
As you may recall, earlier this week it was announced that National Geographic was getting into the gaming business, and even released a schedule of upcoming games. One of the games listed to launch this month is National Geographic: Africa–which you will forgive me for not putting two and two together because: a) the spelling change in the word Afrika, and b) the addition of National Geographic to the title.
So I guess this means that the U.S. will be getting this game after all, although I cannot for the life of me–no matter how pretty it is–expect it to be much of a hit here in the States. Unless you can watch a pride of lions wreak havoc upon a herd of poor, unsuspecting wildebeests and the end result being nothing short of bloody carnage, most 13-year old males will not be interested.
For some reason the video for Sony’s long awaited pet project Afrika will not stream for me, so instead you will have to hit the link for GamerCyde where it was originally posted. It is totally worth it I promise you, and the picture of the Rhino above is the only hint I am giving you.
I am so wanting this game even more than before!
The PS3 exclusive Afrika is about as elusive as Big Foot and details regarding the game have popped up now and then, but nothing really specific has been given – other that it is very pretty and is set in Africa.
But here is what we DO know about it:
You will be a photo journalist taking pictures on foot, by car or by air balloon
You can unlock real non-CG pictures and rare research footage of the animals as you encounter more animals in game and build up your “Animal Library”
The game will be out on 8/28 for 5980 yen in Japan
Afrika is expected to hit North America shores on December 31.
New screens have popped up for Afrika on the Japanese site Watch Impress and a new video featuring the soundtrack being recorded has appeared as well.
Japan is getting their hands on Afrika come August 28, a release date for the US has yet to be announced, and Europe will have to import it if they want to play it. Hopefully, we will hear more soon, because for some reason I am really wanting this game despite the lack of swords, m60’s, and orcs hellbent on sticking your head on a pike.

Sony is nothing but tease. The more they tease me over Afrika, the more pissed off I become. Is it coming to the States or is it not coming to the States? When will they release something in English? When will we know more about gameplay elements other than “take a pretty picture and unlock encyclopedia style info with videos”? Give me a bit more than than please. Oh yeah, and if it isn’t headed our way I don’t ever want to hear about the damn thing again.
Ok, now that I have punched my stuffed elephant in impatient rage (sorry Dingo) I feel a bit more calm. The reason I am frustrated is because the only animal games out there for people like me (huge animal nuts) are Zoo Tycoon or some silly little game for children that a grown woman would be ashamed to play. I like games where I can crack skulls with my massive hammer or shoot a rival gang member in the eye, but this looks like the only game coming out in the near future that includes pretty little critters that I would feel comfortable enough playing without feeling like a pansy or a thirteen year old girl.
The PS3 exclusive Afrika is about as elusive as Big Foot and details regarding the game have popped up now and then, but nothing really specific has been given – other that it is very pretty and is set in Africa.
Finally though a Japanese gaming store has listed the details and here they are:
You will be a photo journalist taking pictures on foot, by car or by air balloon
You can unlock real non-CG pictures and rare research footage of the animals as you encounter more animals in game and build up your “Animal Library”
The game will be out on 8/28 for 5980 yen in Japan
Thanks to N4G for the translation. Hopefully North America will get the game eventually, even though Europe will miss out on this one. Thats not really fair though is it? Hopefully Sony can provide a solid reason for this other than “just because” sometime soon.
Zebras. It seems like that is all we have seen or heard about Sony and Rhino Studios’ safari game Afrika in ages. Sure they are very pretty and very photogenic, but there are other cool critters that live in that region of the world too. The dung beetle, vultures, cobras – oh yeah sure they aren’t as cuddly looking as a giraffe or a cheetah but they are still cool.
Anyway, according to Videogaming247 Afrika was slated for an August release in Japan which was then called “just a rumor”, by SCEJ who has also put a teaser page up for the game that says “coming soon”, and then in more Afrika news, PSU put some new screens up for it.
Then, unfortunately for Europe, Eurogamer broke the news that our fellow gamers across the pond will not get Afrika which is pretty crappy on Sony’s part if you ask me. Which makes me wonder if North America will even get it now.
Hopefully soon we will get more details on what actually encompasses the contents of the game other than just pretty animals and who gets it and who doesn’t – so check back with us often.
