SPOGS Racing and King of the Monsters in This Week's Wii-kly Update
Posted by Chris on Monday, July 7th, 2008 at 5:09 pm under Game Companies, Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Games, Nintendo, Nintendo

One title each for WiiWare and the Virtual Console this week: another NeoGeo oldie, King of the Monsters, for the pricey amount of 900 Wii Points ($9) and SPOGS Racing, which is a bizarre arcade racer where you control something resembling the “It” from South Park. That one will run you a dollar more than its VC sibling at 1000 Wii Points.
It’s worth noting something that 1UP pointed out — while King of the Monsters might be beloved by some (not by me, but that’s only because I’ve never had the pleasure of playing it before), it’s being released for the Wii later this month in SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1, which is a compilation of NeoGeo titles. Its price? $30. It also includes Fatal Fury and Metal Slug, for a total of ten games. Perhaps your money would be better spent on that rather than the Virtual Console version of King of the Monsters. I mean, you’ve waited this long for a port of a NeoGeo game — what’s another few weeks?

Video Game Releases for the Week of April 27th

We are all well aware that the giant that is GTA IV will be hitting stores on Tuesday. We also know that Mario Kart Wii will be released tomorrow, which is Sunday, which is a weird day for a game release, which is why I am using the world “which” so much.
Nevertheless, there ARE other games hitting shelves next week, and while they deserve just as much attention as any other highly anticipated title, whoever decided that this would be a great week to launch their game needs either a reality check or to lay off the sauce.
Here are the games slated to hit shelves next week. As always, we are not responsible for any changes to said dates - blame the publisher, not us. Since there are not as many releases as previous weeks, I did not break them down by system this time and listed the date instead:
- April 27: Mario Kart Wii (Wii)
- April 28: Corvette Evolution GT (DS), Requiem: Bloodymare (PC)
- April 29: Brain Voyage (DS), GTA IV & GTA IV Special Edition (PS3, Xbox 360), Let’s Pilates (DS), Let’s Yoga (DS) Polar Games 2 (PC), Riding Star (PS2) SNK Arcade Classics: Volume 1 (PS2, PSP) Toy Shop (DS) Winx Club: Mission Enchantix (DS)

NEO GEO Stick 2 Coming To The Nintendo Wii
Posted by William on Wednesday, January 30th, 2008 at 9:57 am under Game Consoles, Game Platforms, Nintendo

Rakuten, a popular Japanese retailer, just posted a new online page advertising the NEO GEO Stick 2 for the Nintendo Wii. The peripheral is selling for 5,040 Yen which is around $50. The arcade stick will be available on April 10th and is similar in size and weight to the original NEO GEO Stick 2. Fortunately, the stick will be compatible with all VC games that support classic controllers. SNK’s Arcade Classics Volume 1 is just around the corner for the Wii, so this will be the perfect purchase for anyone looking forward to that.
