Following the revelations of earlier today with the Microsoft E3 2009 kickoff events Electronic Arts hits the stage in California at 2PM California time (yes that’s an official time zone… California is more important than the rest of the Pacific time zone… just ask them). We’ve included the embed link to G4TVs JustinTV feed for the event.
I’ll attempt to do a liveblog of the event in the same post as well if you’re interested in my insight into the whole thing.
You can see the embed and the liveblog after the jump. Read the full article

2K Sports has revealed that their basketball title, NBA 2K9, is now available in retail stores for the PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360 with all new adaptive AI and online features including “Team Up” for 5 on 5 matches. With signature styles for each player, enhanced broadcast interpretation in “2K-HD” and living rosters with current player ratings and moves, 2K has promised the most realistic basketball experience to date.
If the game is not enough to curb your appetite for simulated hoops, you can add a bit more of it to your life by participating online with “The Other Season“, which is an online fantasy league where gamers on PSN and Xbox LIVE get to play for NBA players actively participating as fantasy team owners. Players will be drafted into an NBA player’s NBA 2K9 fantasy teams, startedin October 28 so don’t be surprised if Chauncy Billups or Andre Iguodala happens to pick you. The winning team will have $10,000 donated to the NBA player’s charity of choice.
Additionally, 2K Sports have also announced some good news for PC by revealing that NBA 2K9 will be available for the PC come October 21. This the the first time the franchise has appeared on a Windows based system, and should deliver the same basketball simulation experience as the console versions.
Looks like basketball simulation will finally reach gamers on a “global scale” where hoop trash talk will not be limited to just console players anymore.

It’s hard to even decide what’s worth highlighting first when looking over the list of content that’s been released on the PlayStation Store yesterday. In terms of downloadable games on just PlayStation 3, you’ve got Mega Man 9, GEON Emotions, Burnout: Paradise, and WipeOut HD. Any one of those alone (with the exception of GEON) would have been a big enough release to take up a full week on its own, but instead you’ve got them all together and a whole lot more.
Those who just picked up the recently released Buzz! Quiz TV will either be very happy or very annoyed to hear that there are already three question packs available. The videogames and sci-fi packs will run you $6 and add over 500 questions each, while the Safari pack costs $8 for some seemingly arbitrary reason.
Rock Band players can find new tracks and Rush’s Moving Pictures album, while those looking to sample out some games can find demos of NBA 09, NBA Live 09, and Mega Man 9. There’s the usual helping of videos, wallpapers, and themes — and we haven’t even gotten to PSP content.
The PlayStation Store for PC has two new downloadable games for Sony’s handheld, both of which are $15 a piece: Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. Throw in a demo of Pipe Mania and a Buzz! Quiz Master theme, and you’re looking at what’s easily the biggest day for the PlayStation Store yet.

It’s Thursday, which means the PlayStation Store has been flooded with new downloadable games, demos, videos, and all sorts of other goodies. The headliner content for PlayStation 3 owners are two new demos: Mercenaries 2 and Fracture. Anyone who’s played Mercs 2 or read 1UP’s review can tell you the game is undeniably fun, but what about Fracture, LucasArts’ new shooter centered around destroying terrain? Give the demo a try, and then come back and see if you agree with Anthony Gallegos’ preview of the game from Leipzig.
PSP owners are in for a real treat compared with the usual slap in the face they see in the downloadable space — in addition to a demo and trailer of NBA 09, both Cube and PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient have been released for $10 each. These are the first two of six games being released on the PlayStation Store by D3 Publisher, with some classics like Dead Head Fred and Puzzle Quest still to come.
Much like this past weekend on Xbox Live, this upcoming weekend is a Double XP event in Call of Duty 4, and to celebrate the price of the Variety Map Pack has been cut in half from $10 to $5. Complimenting that is a new Rock Band album from Megadeth, and a ton of new videos from the AST Dew Tour. Hit up the PlayStation Blog for the full list of releases.

Banner day for Take-Two and GTA IV fans. Lots of news so I will just state the facts.
- Eurogamer has reported that exclusive DLC for GTA IV should be hitting the Xbox 360 sometime in November.
- Take-Two is reporting that the DLC will hit during the Q4 of their fiscal year 2009 (Nov 08-Jan 09)- so we will keep you posted on that
- The DLC will consist of two 10-hour episodes
- GTA IV had now sold over 10 million units
All of this comes on the heals of Take-Two’s financial report which was released this morning, full of bragging rights. For example, Q3 revenues are up from $206.4 million to $433.8 million with net income for Q3 totaling at $51.8 million or $0.67 per share. If you pull up numbers for the same time last year, you will notice that they reported a net loss of $58.5 million or $0.81per share.
For the nine months ended July 31, 2008, net revenues were $1,214.1 million, compared to $689.2 million for the same period a year ago. Net income for the first nine months of fiscal 2008 was $112.1 million or $1.48 per share, compared to a loss of ($131.3) million or ($1.83) for the 2007 period.
No wonder they are not ready to hand the reins over to EA just yet.
For the full press release which includes a slew of boring numbers, hit the jump.

Major Nelson has given gamers a heads up that the NBA Live 2009 demo is now available on Xbox Live Arcade. It’s free as expected and takes up 694 MB of space. I’ve always been a fan of try before you buy offers, especially for games that change very little from year to year. However, the NBA Rewind may be a deal maker.
Here are the details:
Content: NBA Live 09 Demo
Price: Free
Availability: All Xbox LIVE regions
Dash Text: [ESRB: E (Everyone)] Get your first chance to check out NBA Live 09 as you recreate the matchup from the 2008 NBA Finals with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics. Play with their current rosters or step back in time to play two different games based on the players performance in two of their classic matchups with the all new NBA Rewind.
NBA Live 09 will be out for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii and the PSP. PC sports fans lose out as there is no PC version out of 09. According to Shack News, Peter Moore announced EA will be coming out with NBA Live and Madden for the PC next year at an investor’s conference this summer.
“We are retooling these titles [on the PC] to take advantage of the online connectivity in a bigger and more meaningful way,” Moore said today, noting that EA’s usual sports offerings–Madden, NCAA Football, NBA Live, etc.–will reappear on PC in 2009.
