Telltale Games have released a cinematic trailer and gameplay video for the upcoming Sam & Max: Season Two (arriving this fall). The minute-and-a-half cinematic trailer is a visual treat to tease us for what we are to expect in Season 2. Being a Sam & Max fan, I found myself re-watching the trailer in attempt to catch a few subtle details easily missed. Many of you may already recognize this as the PAX trailer, and you would be right. However, this version of the trailer is a bit better in quality. Definitely less compression noise from my observation.
The supplemental gameplay video will appeal to those who are curious as to what the Sam & Max “kooky” adventure games are all about. For those familiar with Sam & Max, the Season 2 gameplay video also hints that the new season pretty much hasn’t deviated from the previous formula. Also, the new gameplay video gives us fans a glimpse of Bosco’s “hideous” disguise. Or, as Max retorts: “Claw my eyes out, Sam! I can’t bear to look at it!” (uh oh, critic fodder)
You pretty much have to have played Sam & Max games to get the full effect here. Silly? Yes. But, I’m a sucker for nostalgia. Telltale also threw some crumbs:
We are planning to announce more specifics about Season Two, including the release date and title of the first episode, later this month.
Much like Sam & Max: Season One, Sam & Max: Season Two episodic releases will be exclusive to GameTap subscribers first. As each episode is released through GameTap, that very same episode will be available for purchase through Telltale’s own site the following day. So really it’s not that exclusive. Or, as was the case with Season One, you can wait much later and buy everything at once (maybe).
