I actually do worse on those difficulties compared to expert. Having beat pauses and missing notes messes with your head when you have the real song imprinted in your head for so long. In that case, I end up hitting extra notes that aren't really there. I can only imagine how crazy it must have been for him, given that's probably the first time he's ever tried the plastic mockup.
