*UPDATE 1/14/2008*

This rumor has been confirmed by numerous retailers. Super Smash Brothers Brawl has been delayed to March 9th. We’ll keep an eye on any further developments.

A rumor has surfaced claiming that Super Smash Brothers Brawl has been delayed to March 9th. There’s very little credibility to this rumor, so I’d file it as possible, yet not 100%. The rumor source claims to have received a message from a retailer (eStarland) he ordered the game from. There’s no official word on this from Nintendo yet, but the same release date has been mentioned in various forums. The official release date is still February 10th until further official word.

Dear Mr. Googledotman

We just want to let you know that the release date of Super Smash Bros Brawl (Nintendo Wii) you ordered has been changed to 03/09/2008.

****

If the new release date for this product is more than 2 weeks from your order date and other products that are readily available are on the same order, your order will be shipped in multiple packages. More information on multiple packages may be found here:

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you for your business.

The eStarland team

Does anyone else just want this game to finally come out. I don’t care if they need more time to make it a better game. It’s already going to be the best selling wii title, most likely of all time. Its fine the way it is.

I was at the San Francisco show and got some hands on time with it. It was so good that playing Melee doesn’t do it for me now. Once you have a taste of brawl it ruins melee. Even if this game was just a roster update, which its not, that would be fine with me. I’ve played Melee to death. I want something now. Either the game or a downloaded demo…please nintendo, don’t delay this game.

Glad to see you put a fake screenshot at the top. It’s a bad one too. Meowth has been confirmed as a pokeball, so there’s no way he’ going to be playable.

  4. Shade says:

The only way I would think this would be a “acceptable” delay if Nintendo finally called up Inafune and asked him to let Mega Man be in Smash Brothers. Anything else just doesn’t make sense.

Not official until the Dojo confirms it…

Well fuck this eplains alot… I work at a Sam’s Club, and was wondering if we’d get it the day of release (debating whether I should get it there cheaper or go ahead and pre-order at a game store), so I emailed them and asked. Here was the response (that I got before seeing this article): “Tyler, thanks for the e-mail. The title has slipped to another month per Nintendo. We are not at liberty to give that out, but if you check some gaming sites on the web, I am confident that you can find the new release date.. We have plans to ship it to all clubs, but we do not pay for overnight shipping in order to keep our costs and retails as low as possible. This title will SHIP to all clubs on the release date. If manufacturers change the ship date to a street date (like movies and music), meaning that no retailer can sell it before a specific date, we CAN have it on street date. Thanks for the e-mail.”…………………………. FUCK!

I greatly appreciate you posting Wii Live as a source. The rumor Wii Live posted was in-fact true, and seeing as we are a new site, we are trying to get more readers. Wii Live was the first to post this rumor, yes, rumors about GameFly and Wal-Mart changing dates did spawn first, but those dates were incorrect, Wii Live was the first to post the correct new release date. Once again, i appreciate you posting us as a source, while other sites such as GoNintendo and CVG (computers and videogames) Posted our post without using us as a source.
