It does not surprise me at all, there is a few places like that are driven for sales in the tech department. They intentonaly nag u for pointless upgrades and so called "Services" they provide for a fee.

Ex: i own a fairly new pc i got at staples a few months ago, the Mother board died. im a A+ tech so i can trouble shoot my own work, however they tried to convience me to bring it in to run diagnostic software to tell what the problem is for a simple fee of $59.99. I DONT THINK SO!!!

From previously working at staples and bestbuy. there always are procedures to ask the customers for extras that they many not truly need but would make their machine work better. EX: System customization, it involved doing a few tweeks in windows like turning off the window effects and upping the virtural memory, and reducing the size % of recycle bin from 10%- 2%. for a one time fee of $49 or so.

I know these places like most are sales driven. its a shame, i can surely see why this man was taken advantage of. the techs "Recommend" upgrades and unnecessary items that a person whos not computer savy wouldnt know what what they are paying for.

NO offence to any techs that work there, but im glad i have a real honest job now. Ripping off customers is a sham.

Not. Surprised. Personally, I just let my PC's die into oblivion, then buy a new one. I keep the software up-to-date, and when they die, they get a replacement. Before you ask, this computer I'm using has been around a year and a half.
