perpetuallogo Rumor: Perpetual Entertainment Shuts Down?Perpetual Entertainment (which recently changed its name to “P2 Entertainment”) has been on rocky ground for the past few months. First their upcoming MMO, Gods and Heroes, was canceled. Then they dropped out of developing a Star Trek MMO to focus on the casual gaming market. Well, now it seems that the studio has shut its doors entirely. It’s still rumor at this point, but the way things have been going for them lately, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an official announcement sooner or later. No word on what will become of the Perpetual Platform that was licensed by BioWare Austin recently.

everyones knows MMOs are expensive to develop, and to be developing two by a reletivly unknown (i think) company is financial suicide

Agreed, altho they could have still made money if they got the stuff out.
Kinda sad to see a developer (and more importantly its staff) work hard on something, only for it to be canned during production.

Unfortunately this is the way the gaming industry has been going for awhile now. You’re either one of the big boyz or you don’t play on the same field. The recent formation of the PCGA or PC Gaming Alliance is suppose to help the industry but I fear it may hurt the smaller game developers such as Perpetual and we could be seeing more of these closures.
