Over at MacDailyNews, there is a rumor floating around regarding the supposed partnership with Nintendo and Apple. According to the article, Nintendo is currently licensing a limited amount of content for the new iPhone, and “these exclusive games will be released on the iTunes Store at a $29.00 price point a few months after the iPhone launches. No word on whether they will be distributing iPod versions of these games.”
Almost $30 for a game to be played on your cell phone. Ridiculous. It is bad enough that Apple will be selling the iPhones for $499-$599, and that the cell service for a multi-use phone like this might run you more than you would think. Jeremy Horwitz of iLounge speculates that based on AT&T’s existing voice and data plans, you’ll pay $2,899 over two years for the 4GB model, or $2,999 for the 8GB model. The other downside is that you can only choose AT&T for your provider (at this point at least).
This will be one expensive toy. One that most people will not be able to afford, and one that will cause people to get hit over head. Granted, it is one cool gizmo, but is it really worth the price?
