Rumor Mill: Halo 3 to Include 4-Player Co-op

OK, now that everyone has their Halo 3 beta copies, it’s only a matter of time before people start pulling them apart to predict new features in the game. Let the speculation begin!
In a recent GameHead interview, Bungie hinted that Halo 3 would offer 4-player co-op. Now, some enterprising hackers have hacked the code and found some error messages that certainly seem to support that claim.
“The game cannot start because all players are set to observer. Too many players for splitscreen. Only 2 players may play splitscreen coop on the same Xbox 360 console. The party size is too large to start the game. Up to 4 players may play coop on Xbox Live or System Link. Loading information from Xbox Live…”
Sounds like the option is definitely in there, as long as Bungie decides to activate it.

How are they hacking the code on a 360 without devkits?
