Rumor: Gizmodo Banned From 2009 CES

Gizmodo brought us some great hands-on coverage of CES 2008. They also apparently played pranks on some of the companies at the event. Gizmodo staff has admitted to bringing infrared devices into the event to shut off flat screen TVs at exhibits and monitors during a Motorala press conference. Keep in mind that this was not just a few incidents either. They pulled this prank on numerous companies. The current rumor is that the Consumer Electronics Association decided to ban one Gizmodo staffer from all future CES events and is considering taking further action against Gizmodo and Gawker Media, who owns Gizmodo. The following apology was found on Gizmodo’s site:
CES has no shortage of displays. And when MAKE offered us some TV-B-Gone clickers to bring to the show, we pretty much couldn’t help ourselves. We shut off a TV. And then another. And then a wall of TVs. And we just couldn’t stop. (And Panasonic, you’re so lucky that 150-incher didn’t have an active IR port.) It was too much fun, but watching this video, we realize it probably made some people’s jobs harder, and I don’t agree with that (Especially Motorola). We’re sorry.

That’s the kind of thing you would expect to see on YouTube uploaded by a load of 14 year olds, not on something like Gizmondo. Bunch of idiots.
OMG… lol
Go to the TV-B-Gone product page and look down in the product reviews.
