While there’s no need to worry about Brutal Legend being released, there is still a question as to who will publish it after Activision decided to drop it along with a number of other games. (Hi, Ghostbusters. Still thinking of you.) If the latest rumor proves to be true, Tim Schafer’s latest project might be picked up by none other than good old Electronic Arts.

Kotaku reports that a source has indicated that EA is looking to pick up the game, although neither EA nor developer Double Fine would comment. It’s an interesting rumor that certainly doesn’t seem out of place for the “new” EA that we’ve seen since John Riccitiello was named CEO in early 2007.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter if it’s EA or any number of other companies — as long as the game is released, that’s all I (and, most likely, anyone who’s ever played Psychonauts) care about.
