Before you get too excited (or angry, depending on how you feel about the genre), this isn’t any sort of confirmation that a GTA MMO is in the works. Speaking with Electronic Gaming Monthly, Rockstar’s Sam Houser talked about all things Grand Theft Auto related, including the prospect of a GTA MMO.
Referring to the concept of such a game, Houser said a GTA MMO “is very, very doable and is a very, very compelling proposition.” In addition, he later called a mainstream subscription-based MMO “the Holy Grail,” which is hard to argue with – just look at what World of Warcraft has done on PCs and then imagine a similar type of success on consoles. Epic win, as far as developers and publishers are concerned, right?
