Harmonix has confirmed the release date for Rockband Wii “Special Edition.” Gamers will be able to pick it up June 22 for 169.99 USD. The standard drumkit, mic and a wireless guitar come with the game. Standalone peripherals will also be available the day of release. Five undisclosed extra tracks have been included in this release and will be revealed soon.
According to Joystiq Sean from Harmonix has filled in some more details on the release:
“…the feature-set is a lot closer to the PS2 version of Rock Band which was also developed by Pi Studios.”
“[Harmonix] decided to focus on getting the core gameplay on to the Wii and focus on making that awesome”
Word on the peripherals is “the instruments don’t use the Wiimote. They function the same as our peripherals on the other platforms.”
Although it would be sweet if you could use the Guitar Hero III Wii guitar will work with Rockband, I wouldn’t hold your breath. The animosity between Activision and Harmonix is still fairly fresh.

They better have DLC and the tour mode thing.
Otherwise I’ll have to buy a 360.
Rockband for wii is gonna own! I’m so getting it.
Da Soc@ im sure it will be the stripped dry version that the PS2 got.
It will still sell better on the Wii than any of the versions already out now. So this is a really smart move on Harmonix’s part.
