Rock Band Guitar Patch Still Not Here

If you bought Rock Band and ended up with a busted guitar, you’re probably pretty angry, and understandably so. Perhaps even worse, if you purchased both Guitar Hero III and Rock Band for PS3, ended up with a busted Stratocaster guitar and then proceeded to try out your Guitar Hero III Les Paul, you’re probably even more furious. Even more understandable, since the Les Paul was supposed to work with Rock Band, but doesn’t.
So Rock Band fans have been patiently awaiting the arrival of a patch to fix the issue, and a Harmonix employee actually posted on the Rock Band forums two days ago stating that it would be up the same day.
Available today is a routine update for the PLAYSTATION 3 version of Rock Band that addresses a number of items related to guitar controller compatibility. Should Rock Band owners choose to obtain the update, they will need broadband internet access connected to their PLAYSTATION 3. The update will be downloaded once the game is started.
As you might have already guessed from this story, the rest of that day came and went, and still no patch.
The same employee later apologized for it still not being up and promised he’d try to find out what was preventing things from moving along, but there have been no further updates.
Frustrated PS3 gamers: Harmonix hears you, and we’ll let you know as soon as there’s any new information.

Even though there have been issues with Rock Band, what can you expect? This is a fairly new idea that just came out a few weeks ago, so of course there’s going to be some bugs here and there. I bought the 360 version and wound up with a busted guitar, but I appreciate how Harmonix acknowledged the issue, sent me a new one free of all charges, AND are going to send a free game just for the wait. One week without Rock Band and I get a free game. That’s not bad.
