Better break out the eyeliner and black hair dye. MTV is sponsoring a Rock Band-themed music tour, and they’re bringing together enough emo bands to make even Bobby McFerrin start cutting himself. Rock Band Live Tour will be traveling across the across the U.S. starting October 5th and will feature musical performances from Panic at the Disco, Dashboard Confessional, Plain White T’s, and The Cab. Aside from this super emo lineup, audience members will also have a chance to play Rock Band on the main stage. Bands for this will be selected through local radio promotions, national contests, and on-site competitions. Naturally, the whole tour is partly to promote Rock Band 2, which is set to release about the same time.
“Rock Band Live brings together a terrific combination of artists for a night of rock ‘n roll love,” said Paul DeGooyer, MTV’s Senior Vice President of Electronic Games & Music. “The bands are fantastic, the timing dovetails perfectly with the release of Rock Band 2, and the events will be tons of interactive fun for families.”
You can check out the official website for when to avoid certain areas (i.e. venues and concert dates).

So with the exception of PATD none of the bands have a song on the game itself. I would think that if your having a tour to promote a game (especially a music game) you may want someone who contributed to the soundtrack. Unless they’re also trying to promote more DLC before Rock Band 2 comes out featuring the bands on the tour also. Sorry it just makes sense to me, but this is considering availability of other said bands also.
