Harmonix has a lot to sing about today because according to a post over on Shacknews, the company has said that gamers have downloaded over 28 million songs for the Rock Band franchise. This is a major jump in downloads since they announced earlier this year that they had attained the six million downloads milestone for tracks offered through Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
However, when considering the previous announcement regarding downloadable content you have to remember that the Rock Band store was not open for business at that point, plus over the past 55 weeks, Harmonix has been more consistent with new offerings. As of this post, the Rock Band store has 345 tracks by 239 artists for your downloading pleasure and has hit the 500 total song mark for Rock Band which was the company’s goal for 2008.
If Harmonix remains diligent with their downloadable offerings, these numbers will only soar. Now all they need to do is start taking requests more seriously and also get to work on that Beatles game.
