In2Games has just received £7.4 million ($14.56 million) in funding from Ingenious Media. The funding will be used to support a number of projects, most prominently a motion tracking device set to rival the Wii-mote, called Gametrak. Gametrak is being touted as providing true motion capture gameplay, being able to track the movements of up to four people at once. The image above is just one prototype for the system, but the technology is being developed specifically with the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in mind. The funding will also go to some software developments, but the main focus of the company right now is on this new technology, as Patrick McKenna, director of Ingenious Media Archive Capital, has stated:
“In Gametrak Fusion, In2Games has created the definitive motion gaming platform for the next generation of games consoles and I look forward to this product driving the company into a period of rapid growth.”
This seems pretty much like an attempt to 1-Up (pun intended) Nintendo’s easy-to-pick-up control scheme. However, considering how successful Nintendo’s system has been, that might put a good amount of pressure on In2Games to make this device work right and not just be gimmicky. Guess we’ll hav eto see when they finally roll it out to retailers.

Funny that they’re doing that…when the PS3 has motion sensors. Granted, different style of the Wii’s, but it does. I think the problem here will be the fact it’s a dual-console development. Greatest idea could be it’s greatest downfall, having to develop for two different styles.
Wow… motion sensing in real next-gen consoles… It would be great!!!
this does look cool but if the p3 and 360 beome “casual” aswell then where do the hardcore gamers go. wii is great for parties ect but i couldnt imagine playing it on my own
