Perhaps due to the marketing push that Resistance is getting from Sony, Insomniac has decided to patch their PlayStation 3 launch game. According to a blog post made on PlayStation.Blog earlier today, the patch could see the light of today as early as “this afternoon,” so the patch might be available as I type this. I hesitate to check, as I don’t want my house to get egged by impatient trick-or-treaters.

If you try logging into the game and have trouble, that likely means the patch is being unrolled. (Or, California was hit by an earthquake; apparently the two will have the same impact on Resistance’s servers.)

The major changes are as follows, with the full patch notes can be found here.

  • Ability to take screenshots in game using a USB keyboard.
  • Weapon balance changes and new round balancing options -Dual Shock 3 support added for online AND single player.
  • Password protected custom games.
  • Numerous bug fixes.
