Resistance 2 Makes Most of PS3

ChannelFlip’s Katherine Fletcher is inviting gamers to take a look at Resistance 2. The Insomniac and Sony sequel has some very grueling expectations to live up to. I’m sure 60 player online multiplayer goes a long way to measuring up to that very high bar.

Here it is, the PS3’s FPS exclusive of the season complete with impressive visuals and gargantuan beasts to face off against. The campaign is pretty good, although it didn’t exactly rip off my head and crap down my neck with awesomeness, but I suspect the incredible 60 player online game will more than make up for that for most gamers.

    Really, cause the campaign is only 3 hours long…Thats making the most of the ps3?

    Oh and it the same senerio over and over and the friendly AI doesnt even shoot or get shot at, they just stand it place and do nothing..

    This game really sucks ..the news must just get advertising dollars from Sony..

    @ Carla, There’s no way you beat the main story in 3 hours. Throw down your PSN id, that way I can check on myresistance.net and see how bad you’re lying.

    Im glad that this game at least has the 60 player multiplayer. I figured that Kathy Feltcher would try to dog on it for being “dark” or something else mundane like that. God forbid it was like real life where lighting might not always be equal to that of a walmart. And still she only comments that it just runs pretty smoothly online. 60 FU*$king people?! FOR FREEEEEEEE!!!! FU*$cking FREEEEEE!! Its unbelievable considering my friends who have a 360 only told me before the game came out that it would be really choppy and that even halo 3 skips a little… even with a paid subscription. Halo at my house isn’t terrible but I have to say that with a 1/3 as much people, there is more lag than than 60 player resistance.

    Im not trying to start an xbox fight, so lets not start throwing hot pockets at each other. I’m just saying that microsoft took our money and threw it into a petty cash account because if Sony can give us this for free, microsoft should at least give 360 players FLAWLESS 20 player.

    How long is the campaign? I put Resistance 2 on my Christmas wish list so I hope it’s under the tree but I’ve heard there are actually two separate campaigns. Is that true?

    Go Marlins!!!!

    @jay

    It is your individual connection to the Internet that causes lag. Not the service. If your friend is getting booted out of his Halo 3 session tell him to check his line speed and upgrade to a higher bandwidth if he can.

    You pay a fee to Microsoft because they are constantly improving the service like making their host servers perform as optimally as possible. I have never had any lag in a Gears of War 2 online session.

    Sony makes improvments to their network using revenue generated from selling adspace in their products. If you noticed in Home that there were tons of ads promoting the movie Twilight. That is what pays for Home….though you think Sony’s online service is free it is not actually free, you just are not the one that pays for it.

    I gladly pay $50 a year because Microsoft is constantly improving their infrastructure for the best online gaming experience possible. I do not know if Sony uses the revenue it generates from selling adspace to improve it’s network infrastructure or not.

    Go Marlins!!!!

    I wouldnt say its my individual connection. I use the same internet for xbox as I do ps3. Its a cable internet connection that does the trick for ps3, but not so much on 360. Also my ps3 runs off wireless where my 360 is of course hardwired in a REALLY inconvenient place, but I’m not putting down a bill for the wireless, especially since I dont use it that much anymore. I just break out the cord when I need to. I used to like 360 for a couple reasons, but now I see that they have way too many hidden costs for what MY specific needs are. I know some people are find with what 360 offers, and thats great. But for my case, PS3 costs less to use it for what I want. And when the fully get on 1080p games, its going to really make my Xbox obsolete considering my tv is 52 inches and native 1080p is the only way to go, without spending a grand making a faux 1080p.

    And as for home… They can litter that place head to toe with advertisements for twilight, harry and the hendersons, big league chew, whatever they want. As long as I dont pay for it. Microsoft took the easy way, where as Sony took the smart route. I could kid myself and say Xbox is worth it.. but honestly right now its seeming that my PS3 is getting better and better with no end in sight.

    It’s kind of funny, people is excited because a game has 64 player online, you can play with 64 people in pc games since ages…

    @Jay:
    60 playing in the same map is not always more funny than 32 players fighting in a good designed map. The maps are gonna need to be very very big, and if the maps are really very big, is not always easy to find 60 people to play with…

    @ManOfTeal,
    Resistance 2’s main story campaign for me took 8 hours and 41 min. the first time through on Hard difficulty.
    There are 2 seperate campaigns, though the other one is more of a 8 player co-op chimera kill fest, there are objectives and a story, but you have to read the intel reports to get it.
    If you want to play 8 player co-op or competitive hit me up on the PSN if you get the game.

    @Darkmike
    Perhaps you should play the game? Just a thought.

    Just wanna say that this game is AMAZING. The story was a little bland, but the graphics are very impressive and the gameplay is great. It took me between 7-9 hours on my playthroughs. The multiplayer is some of the best I’ve ever played, ranking up with Halo 3 and CoD4 just for its incredible ability to have so many people on at once with such little lag and its superb level designs. The coop mode is fantastic because of the three classes available, giving it the WoW appeal. This is one of my GotY’s.
