Requital Trailer 2 – Nice Looking Game, Bad Trailer

I really shouldn’t make fun of Requital and this new gameplay trailer from Excalibur Publishing because the game does not look too bad actually. The only problem, like the last trailer they sent us, is the trailer itself. I know that smaller developers like Primal Software try to let the games speak for themselves, but one would think that they could have put just a teeny bit more work into a trailer for a game they are trying to market. I cringed when I began watching this, seeing the scrolling wordplay at the bottom but then I became thankful that we were not subjected to more of what Jonathan called “reading from the back of the box.” Requital will be available for PC in September.
It probably wouldn’t have cost all that much to hire a local voice talent to have read aloud instead of scrolling the text along the bottom.
…seriously…who thought having crows in the background was a good idea?
This deserves some kind of a razzie. I’ve seen YouTube videos made by 10 year olds better than this.
The game itself doesn’t look half-bad. But this is not how you shop it to your customers. Give me 30 minutes with those guys at Primal and I’ll have them churning out something decent.
