Gamasutra has an article detailing Remedy business director, Matias Myllyrinne’s lecture at the Nordic Game Conference on “The Next Wave of Game Development… Large Games, Small teamsâ€. Myllyrinne advised small independent developers on how to produce large next-gen games with a small studio. He says that small developers should work with what they have and maintain realistic expectations. He also encourages independent developers to exploit their advantages, such as the ability to develop the low risk original IP in demand by the industry as it continues to become overwhelmed by “safe” sequel titles. Myllyrinne shared some of Remedy’s techniques for combining media and technology in creative ways. Remedy, known as the producer of Max Pain and Alan Wake, may just have some experience in these areas that new developers could learn from.
