With the news that Games for Windows Live is now completely free, one obvious question springs up: What about all the people who have paid for subscriptions? Ars Technica is reporting that Microsoft will offer refunds to those who have purchased gold subscriptions to GFW Live.
“Yes, there will be a benefit for customers who purchased gold subscriptions on Windows,” said Microsoft’s Kevin Unangst. “Proactively, we will be offering refunds for those with Windows-specific Gold subscriptions. Customer service has already begun to get communications prepared.”
If you happen to be one of the people who qualify, allow me to make this recommendation: Take that money and spend it on something better than Halo 2 Vista or Shadowrun. If you’re playing those games, you must have a decent computer, so just do yourself a favor and take my advice. Stop punishing yourself.

Shadowrun had such potential. But then they messed it up. Fans of the franchise should avoid the drek.
