Yes, it worked in Gears of War, but after the first level it got boring because all you needed to do was press the magic A button. I'd stick with the label of destroyable environments, as it only has its past versions and the new Battlefield to content with, a significantly better chance than relying on saying "hey, look! We have cover now!" I don’t like it when games start selling themselves on a cover system.
