Realtime Worlds: APB “Not That Far Away”

MMOs generally have extremely long development cycles, so I don’t think I was alone in thinking we wouldn’t be seeing APB – the new game from Crackdown developer Realtime Worlds — for a good while still. At the Developer conference yesterday, Realtime Worlds’ Colin Macdonald told videogaming247 that it might not be as long of a wait as I thought.

“We’re not that far away,” he said. “Things have been going really, really well. But it’s a mammoth game: what’s still to be done isn’t going to be done overnight. It’s still going to take a little while, but we’re not talking about that far away now.”

The success of Crackdown and the public’s interest in a Grand Theft Auto-style MMO certainly bodes well for APB. With an open beta in the works, we should be able to get our hands on the game sooner than even Macdonald suggested.

We need people to comment about this.

From the limited view I’ve seen of this game it looks like it could be one of the best games released for a long time. I’m incredibly excited, expecially since its from the creator of Crackdown and one of the grandfathers of the GTA franchise.
