Rat Race is already being described as the sitcom of console games; an episodic PS3-exclusive based around hilarious situations. That’s probably why it was quite a heavy blow when initial trailers for the game were largely seen as being just plain not funny. Victor Varnado, one of the comics tapped to write for the series, explained the situation to MTV:

“Here’s what really happened,” said Varnado, who followed the reaction. “Some of the stuff that was leaked onto GameTrailers was some of the stuff meant for internal use, not something that was a finished product that would go out. That isn’t our best foot forward. We’ll make sure that what we put out next is something we’ve gone over and that we’re proud of.”

I’m not sure if I believe that, but at least they’re acknowledging it really wasn’t what they were going for. They’re apparently already working at tossing out the bad jokes before the game makes it to release. Hopefully they work out the unfunny kinks by the time we see more from the game.
