How do they factor in used games? All my 12 PS3 games were bought used. I am one of those who can wait a year to play a game after it’s been out.

Sony’s attach rate has actually dropped a little from where it was estimated to be before Christmas (MVC estimated it to be 5.1) I think this might be because of all the new consoles brought recently, as new owners generally have fewer games. Me I have 23 on my Xbox 360 and 13 on my PS3. Only 7 though on my Wii.

Include a link if possible. Nintendo just released their global attach rates and they are higher globally than they are in the US. But globally, wii-sports is not necessarily bundled. So the fact that it’s bundled doesn’t seem to make much difference. In fact, one could argue that people are buying fewer games because it IS bundled. If you buy the console and get a game like wii-sports that is essentially 5 different games, you’re probably less likely to buy other games. Whereas if you buy the console with no game bundled, you will almost definitely buy at least ONE game, but perhaps 2 or 3. So really, Wii-sports doesn’t skew the numbers much.

I have 26 ps3 games, 15 blu-rays I dont know how they figure these things out everyone on my ps3’s friends list has atleast 2/3 games. and peoplesaying blu-ray is just on a stepping stone from the ps3. just compare it to how many games you bought not what everyone else has. they dont seem to track everything i dont think. The ps3 is according to sony *cough* is doing better than what the ps2 did in it’s first year.

Hmm… Strangely enough I JUST read an article with different figures, showing the Wii WAY behind in attach rate, and 360 and PS3 almost identical, with the 360 edging out by .x games. I almost have to wonder if these figures include each individual Wii Sports title.

NPD , don’t know jack (i do hes my mate lol) i got 6 games for my ps3, 7 on tuesday, im getting one in may, one in june, one in july, and one in august all the way to december when i’ll get a pile of games.

You may want to check your facts there Norbit. Less than a year after launch the 360 had an attach rate of 4.9 and it has only gone up from there. The PS3 attach rate is improving, but it’s still on the very low side even for it’s time since launch. At least the box is finally starting to outsell the 360.

Mornelithe reminded me of something… does this count downloaded games and such? And really, all possibilities like that? Or simply what NPD tracks? I’m guessing the latter. I think NPD doesn’t take into account PC downloaded sales, for example… so who knows. PSP attach rates may be higher, and same for the PS3 with downloaded games.

Does anyone know for sure?

Here are a couple of facts which illuminate these figures a bit better but which for posting I will no doubt be attacked by certain people who prefer to live in ignorance

1) The 360 already had nearly 4m units in US homes when the PS3 was launched which totally messes up the comparison.

2) With an attach rate of 4.6 the PS3 actually has a better attach rate than the 360 had at the same time after launch.
