A few weeks back, Sony distributed their ” SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT AMERICA PREVIEWS ROBUST SOFTWARE LINE UP FOR PLAYSTATION® PLATFORMS” . Although most of the news included is out there, I haven’t seen the full word for word document many places. The full statement in it’s entirety is listed below after the break. I think the PS3 is definitely headed for some good times in the future. Many critics have been extremely tough on the system, but only time will tell. They are obviously behind the curve right now, but I feel like the Nintendo Wii will eventually lose it’s hype and it will just be Sony and Microsoft on the field at that point.

SAN DIEGO, May 17, 2007 – Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc., (SCEA) previewed an extensive software line up for its PlayStation® platforms for the second half of 2007 and early 2008 at a media event in San Diego today. More than 30 games for PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system, including a strong first-party lineup of over ten announced titles, were shown during the event, along with a full library of games and services for PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) handheld entertainment system, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and PLAYSTATION®Network, demonstrating the depth and breadth of content heading to PlayStation® fans.
“As you would expect from the market leader, we are seeing a huge influx of games coming to all our PlayStation platforms in the remainder of our fiscal year,” said Jack Tretton, president and chief executive officer of Sony Computer Entertainment America. “More than half of the games we showed during our media event are available only on our systems. This fiscal, from SCEA alone, users can expect more than 15 exclusive games and services for PS3, and another nine for PSP. This doesn’t even take into account the wide variety of titles and game packs we have coming through the PLAYSTATION Network. Given this raft of titles, I think we are very well positioned to meet the needs and wants of every PlayStation user as they build out their game libraries in the coming months.”

Taking center stage on the first day of the event were over 30 new games for PS3, demonstrating the advanced technological capabilities of the system, including the CellBroadband Engineâ„¢ (Cell/B.E.), Blu-ray Discâ„¢ (BD) player, built-in hard disc drive
(HDD), 1080p high-definition output, Wi-Fi connectivity and the SIXAXISâ„¢ wireless controller.
Key first-party PS3 titles unveiled and demonstrated included: Warhawk™, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, SOCOM: Confrontation, Heavenly Sword™, Ratchet & Clank® Future: Tools of Destruction™, Folklore™, THE EYE OF JUDGMENT™ and SingStar™. Several of these titles were recently highlighted in Electronic Gaming Monthly’s June issue as “difference makers” for PS3 in 2007, denoting must-have titles for gamers. In addition, the buzz of March’s Game Developers Conference, LittleBigPlanet™, was also on hand, giving attendees a chance to explore this unique game, where players actually create and share their own 3D gameplay levels.
Enjoying onsite support from more than 15 leading publishers, SCEA was pleased to also give event attendees access to key third-party titles including John Woo Presents Strangehold™ from Midway, a game that will take full advantage of the massive storage capacity of the Blu-ray disc format by offering a game and a movie, John Woo’s “Hard Boiled,” on the same disc. Other gameplay stations featured titles from 2KGames, Capcom, Tecmo, Sierra Entertainment SEGA and Konami.
Additional games and services will be available for PS3 system owners through the PLAYSTATION Network. Attendees got their first hands-on experience with the highly anticipated PLAYSTATION Network service Home, a 3D avatar-based community that serves as a meeting place for PS3 users around the world. PLAYSTATION Network games highlighted at the event included PAIN and Calling All Carsâ„¢.
Sixteen exclusive titles for PSP from first and third parties were also unveiled at the event, ranging from Syphon Filter®: Logan’s Shadow to God of War®: Chains of Olympus and SOCOM:U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike.
“We still have a few surprises up our sleeve for this fiscal,” continued Tretton. “But I think the games and services we did show at this event really demonstrated the gameplay, community and entertainment possibilities you can only have on PlayStation products.”

Recent industry analyst reports point to an up-cycle for SCEA as the company brings more next-generation content to the marketplace, particularly for PS3. According to an April IDC report:
“IDC stresses that the PS3 is ahead of the market, like its predecessors. Must-have exclusive content, which in this generation will come from first party studios (Heavenly Sword, Lair) and network services (Home), will turn around the PS3’s position. Later this year new PS3 games will begin to demonstrate the advantages of the console’s specifications and the network will show us some new tricks.” (1)

I totaly agree with this article.

“Journalists”, mainly from the cyber-world or are just short-eyed or payed by Microsoft for each of their non-sence articles bashing Sony and their PS3, before it was the PSP that (for the journalists) was a complete disaster and so on… now they forgot the PSP to bash PS3? :???: , WE (the rest of the world excluding US) KNOW how patriots americans can be, and when even the Bank of America says that PS3 is a failure if they don’t drop the price $200 proves my point, they want their “home” product (X360) to win the competition, 95% of the negative Sony news are from american websites, fortunately there still are some ppl in US that are imparcial and speak openly about things. I don’t see in Europe, Asia or Australia this kind of “hate” for Sony, honestly, I feel sorry for those guys who think they are in “c’est la mode” just because they also hate Sony, it became a National Sport in America or what??? Pathetic…

Sony (SCE) by itself has enough AAA software titles to appeal many consumers to their products, and while I agree that in the moment things looks bad for Sony (poor PS3 sales), the truth is… since I remember, Sony was never a “rushed” company, they do their stuff with tranquility and they allways acomplish big things, games like LAIR, Litlle Big Planet, Heavanly Sword, Drakes Fortunes and the Home Service are just a few examples how Sony is focused in bringing to consumers the best products with the best quality possible, they need those products to came out urgently, but they won’t sacrifice their quality in order to launch them sooner.

NO ONE and NOTHING can predict the future, vido-game industry analysts are like weather prediction guys they allways fail in their prediction, and most of those “analysts” are from suspicious sources, when a “evil” Xillion dollars company like Microsoft is in a market, everything must be seen with a TON of salt. Bank of America think they also are “wizzards” and think they know what Sony needs to do, for them Sony failure is a good thing, not a bad thing, so people should just ignore their “two cents” of opinion, they should give their opinion about the billions of dollars Bush is expending in weapons and none sence wars or give their opinion about the 50% world pollution US makes, not about a video-game product  .

My final thought…. PS3 is not having good days (FACT), but when we look at a near future I don’t see things getting worse, I see a path well traced by Sony with good software and services alied to a good and fantastic system, I have a PS3, I’m very happy with it, firmware updates are beeing great, the console design and construction quality are amazing, people who bash Sony is because or they don’t have one, or are extreme fanboys from other companies or are just weak mind people that are influenciated by others, others those that are ignorants or just plain dorks.

Now that I’m thinking better about what I wrote…

Why do you have so much hate Americans? Why the wars and the pollitical attaks to all the world? You have a great country with many tallented people and resources, why the hell you transmit such a bad image to the rest of the world? You act like if the world must be at your command and weal… guess what, it is not and will never be, so act decent and make friends, not more enemys! Even american websites are full of military ads, angry people, US posters in blogs/fóruns, etc are allways the ones who more complain and criticyze about everything, even when there is nothing to complain about… you talk so much about democraty but you do so least to live in one per-se!

Sorry about the grammar and the off-topic.

AND BY THE WAY BEFORE YOU GO ON RUNNING YOUR MOUTHS TALKING ALL THAT…IM A NINTAENDO FAN BOY…BUT MAY THE BEST BEST BEST COMPANY WIN…I SAID BEST SUCKERS…NOT THE AMERICAN ONE OR WHATEVER…STUPID PEOPLE THAT GO WITH FADS OR WHATS IN RATHER THAN USING LOGIC…I LOVE THE FACT THAT THANKS TO THE PS3 THE PRICES OR BLU RAY PLAYERS ARE FALLING DRAMATICALLY…BUT HEY THATS SOMETHING FOR ANOTHER TIME…GOOD JOB MK24EVER…MUCH RESPECT TO YOU BRO…!

you ppl seem like my kinda “peeps”, you see i live in Canada, the great white north, the beer country, and ahem….. mary jane, lol, i live right beside the border and most americans(or at least the most vocal) scare the hell out of me, they honestly believe that god supports everything they do.

and ya, bank of america commenting on a video game console, this should raise eyebrows because, this comes from someone with no ties to the industry, but does have ties to Microsoft, so its in this mans best interest to put down sony, but truth be told, he is a moron and should really spend his time trying to justify the US’s false wars and ignorant population(not all of them obviously, but the smart ones never speak up)

and finally to comment on the article, i’m excited about these games, all of them, well not SingStar, im not a sing in public kinda person, more of a shower singer, lol. anyway, in closing cant wait for these games, as my ps3 is still going strong but my 360 broke down again, for the 3rd time and i just wish it would last till halo 3, because thats the only game i want for the 360, but mine keeps breaking down.

I’ve posted on this before, and I’ll reiterate. Right now, Sony is facing some lean times. However, if you think back, they are in a similar position now to where MS was with the XBox. It came to the market after the PS2, and was far behind in number of installed systems.

The difference in this situation is that Sony has always had a longer lifecycle in mind for consoles than most. Witness the still powerful sales of the PS2, and all the great games that are still coming out for PS2. Sure, the 360 is on top right now, but 2 years from now, will the 360 still cut it? No one knows, but my gut feeling is that the superior hardware of the PS3 will begin to assert itself even sooner than that.

As developers become more and more comfortable with the hardware, their games will take advantage of more and more of that hardware’s potential, meaning that the games we are seeing now on PS3 are only a preview of what will be.

Basically, I think there is some truth to the idea that Sony is kind of struggling now, but I just don’t see that lasting throughout the console’s life. It’s got too much going for it. Bottom line? Don’t be surprised when the PS3 works its way to the top of the heap in the near future.

:!: A fanatic person is more easy to manipulate… and will follow a leader without questions
the people in U.S. (please dont call them americans, dont bash the full continent) blame the islamic for being to fanatics about religion, how blind are they?
Bush always refer to god in their spech about war, did not all their money call “In God We Trust”
The U.S. is the most fanatic country in the world, and is that way, because the goverment knows that “A fanatic person is more easy to manipulate…”
Why you think that the year is full with national sports (super bowl, nba, beisball, etc) :?:
They encourage the fanatism from school, one school team vs other school team, even, nerds vs cheerleaders and sports…
All this just make me sick  and sad

 I am an AMERICAN, from Argentina. Maybe is wrong speak about other country than mine, but they always quickly judge all that is not their way, that they give the rigth to say this

Its a shame the PS3 isn’t water proof as they do make water proof LCD tvs, lol

After the 9/11 Bush and his administration have gone like ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and made it his own agenda. People around the world see Bush as a re-encarnated Hitler.

Thought: “I better leave a comment about the topic in hand”.

Sony has dug themselves a hole in the past 2 years or more and the media and arogant fanboys have helped dig it deeper. Recently I would say from March, Sony has begun to fill that hole back in, while media and fanboyd still dig, I think Sony is now filling the hole faster than they’re digging. I see Sony completely filling that hole and going on to making a mound, then a small hill to a big hill, and then to a mountain that bigger than the rest. That if nothing else goes wrong of course.
