PS3 Price Cut?

The Blu-Ray shortage is ending, and everyone is rejoicing–especially those looking to buy a Playstation 3.
Apparently the demand caused by the shortage is in part what made the PS3 so damned expensive, according to the folks over at DigiTimes. Sony Shiroishi Semiconductor is ramping up production of blue-violet laser diodes, which is the most scarce part of blue-laser pick-up heads which PS3s and other Blu-ray players use.
What’s left for people wanting to buy a PS3 is the possibility that this will possibly cut the price by $100, that is if Sony decides not to be a bastard about it. In essence, Sony could just keep the current market price of the PS3 and rip everyone off even harder. I think it will be something in between.
But who knows, Sony may very well decide to pass on all of the savings to the consumer, especially given that it’s not as popular as they’d hoped in all of their markets.
Perhaps, even, in every one of their markets.

There’s no way I’m buying a ps3 for over 300 dollars.
I most certainly wont fork out over £280 for a PS3, the better XBOX 360 pack costs £279 so why would I buy somthing that has almost all the same titles and features for more than that?
