It’s well known that the PS3 is a complex machine, but for developers this means a lot more options.
GamePro.com has a feature on what the power behind Sony’s console means for developers from a few different standpoints, and it sheds light on possible reasons for lack of PS3 exclusivity.
“If your game starts on Xbox 360 you will have to re-engineer aspects of the game to run properly on PS3. This means additional effort,” Sony’s Dave Karraker told GamePro. “Some developers have been complaining about this, but I don’t believe we can solve that.”
Yeah, totally re-engineering your game to port it out to other consoles or port them in to the PS3 is definitely a costly effort, not to mention a pain in the ass.
But obviously that effort pays off, because the games released for the console are absolutely beautiful.
