PS2 Now Bundled with Singstar

The Playstation 2 certainly hasn’t breathed its last gasp just yet. It seems Sony is now preparing to ship a new (i.e. white) version of the PS2 bundled with one controller, two microphones, and a copy of Singstar, the popular karaoke game. The bundle will also retail at a decent price of $149.99, just $20 more than a PS2 system alone. Apparently, they’re hoping to appeal to the casual gamer and those looking to color coordinate with their Wiis and Xbox 360s.
I have noticed a rise in the “wannabe rock/pop star” genre these days with such games as Guitar Hero and Rock Band receiving considerable buzz. Even at PAX this past weekend, the Singstar setup seemed to draw in the most people next to Rock Band. However, it’s one of those things that probably works better in a public setting than in your own home. I guess we shall see.

I believe the SingStar series has sold over 7 million units so some people obviously like it.
I’m not one of them.
Gotta agree with Norbit. I’ve noticed it being sold, but it’s definitely not for me…or anyone else I know, come to think of it.
HAHAHA!!
The PS2 is still outselling the PS3!!
“The PS2 is still outselling the PS3!!”
Its also outselling the 360. Are you trying to say its bad for Sony that their 7 year old console is still selling so well?
Every PS2 sold is a potential sale taken away from Microsoft and another share of the market for Sony. Because of the PS2 Sony’s home console market share is still expanding at a faster rate than Microsoft’s even with the 360 outselling the PS3.
