PS2 About to Become #1 Selling Console of All Time

OK. We all know that PS3 sales have been…well…dismal. However, the PS2 never encountered that issue. In fact, the PS2 is now poised to pass the GameBoy and become the number one selling console ever.
The Gameboy, to date, has sold 118.69 million units. The PS2 has sold 117.89 million units, including over 6.5 million in the last 6 months.
So, while things may look bleak for the PS3 at present, Sony has said they are taking the long view on the console. If it’s anything like its predecessor, the long view may be rosy indeed.
In case people forgot, PS2 had the same criticisms when it was first launched. People complained that it was too expensive ($300 in the year 2000) and that it had no good games.
But then Christmas 2001 came, and gamers got to play amazing games like Grand Theft Auto 3, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Jak and Daxter. Suddenly, PS2 became incredibly popular, simply because of a few key games being released at the right time.
Xbox 360 was also bashed for not having many good games at it’s launch. But now, as we all see, the 360 is selling quite well thanks to it’s key games like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Saint’s Row, Test Drive Unlimited, and others.
All consoles have poor reception during the first few months after release, simply because of what I said earlier. Give it time, the PS3 sales will catch up once the good games are released later this year.

Okay, PS3 has no good games on it, it costs $600, if you’re saying that it’s not impacting their sales, and comparing it to the Wii, that’s pretty dismal to me.
And I have yet to get a PS2. I’m much too lazy playing my DS.

So what exactly am I a fanboy of? I own a 360 and a PS3. Unlike some idiots who have no idea of the bigger picture I’m not under the impression that the PS3 is somehow doomed. In no way shape or form does it’s future look ‘bleak’ unless you are a retarded fanboy.
I forgot to add that worldwide the PS3 is still selling faster than the PS2 and 360 did at the same point after launch and that’s with a small catalogue of games and a high price. It’s obviously doomed.

okay well this topic was made some time ago and i stumbled across it, its been a few months since the last review of sales for the 3 giants of the gaming world (Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony)
first things first, to set the record starght, the best selling gaming system of all time belongs to Nintend’s Game boy, the game boy over the past years has sold a total of 118.69 million (or around that i think), but may soon be taken over by the ps2 which has sold 117.89 million systems world wide since 2000. although with the production line on the ps2 comming to a hult, and the game boy still running strong, it may look like nintendo may keep the tital of best selling gaming device of all time.
now on the subject of titals, here is another that belongs to Nintendo, and was the basis of me re-opening this debate, it seems that people on the topic seem to be disalutioned with the idea that the PS3 will do anything but wiver away and die like dry leaves, i own all the devices, i can tell you right now, the ps2 was the biggest waste of money, there isn’t much i cant do with my xbox that i can do with the ps3, and for that much of a price difference i’d rather not have the “extra’s” of the ps3, but as far as gameplay goes the nintendo’s DS and Wii has to be top, most my time playing games with my friends is on thoes machines, because they carry the most overall enjoyment, and when im talking about enjoyment i mean starght up fun you can have with your friends, no sitting there mindlessly playing a game for 24 hours without sleep food or water infront of gears of war or call of duty 4, that kind of enjoyment is best found in the Xbox (i say xBox because of its multiplayer online gaming is sooooo damn fun lol). my words can also be backed with fgures, figures whch show the Nintendo has world-wide outsold the ps3 3 – 1 and the x box by a million copies even with the xbox having an EXTRA years to get a head start.
so the bottom line, Nintendo wins hands down, as far as fun, gameplay, and just having a good laugh on bowling or tennish with mates. when nintendo made the wii, they didn’t make a concole for the no lifers, they made a concole for people with lives, and thats why ps3 is d000000000med!!!!
hey Ray man u must be what 8 yrs old cus ur obvously a nintendo fanboy and u said CONCOLE instead of consle like 20 times u nintendo fanboy turdy speller but anyway i love my ps3 with its blu ray and awesome games like resistance, MGS4, heavenly sword ant motorstorm od and by the way it now hs rumble and stuff but my favorite thing about it!!! is that it has the ability to upgrade the hardrive so when i run out of memory i can upgrade to a 160 gigabite
Yea, PS2 rules, Nintendo sucks. I remember when Sega Dreamcast fanboys told that PS2 is to expensive and that it has no games in 2000. And what happend to Sega Dreamcast one year later???? PS2 toraly outsold Sega Dramcast. And PS2 destroyed Xbox and GameCube as well.
