The expansions are kinda dull, but I played them through 4 times nonetheless...I have to be able to claim I beat all FEAR games in Extreme without slowmo :P that being said, something OFFICIAL that will be AWESOME instead of AVERAGE just like FEAR was FUCKING AWESOME sounds like a 7 time playthrough to me :)

Maybe it's called project origin because actually find out about project origin?

DUUUH!

As Death Dream says you constantly hear about project origin in F.E.A.R, but you never get to see it. As for Perseus Mandate they released an expansion.

I am not being an ass either as most people get that from what I write most of the time as well (I find it funny though). I am a news/file poster as well, as I'm sure you have seen by now and work with filefront (I'm an ant though). So I know about the whole "redundant" thing can be a bit bothersome. I understand that you can post as much as you want as well, I just get a bit touchy about this game because I've been with it since the F.E.A.R.'s SP and MP demo's were released and wanted all the facts out there.

The only thing that email does is really gives a release date which I can understand why you said what you said, hell, the site I pulled my quote from didn't even say anything about a release date which was confusing to me.

Whatever, all is good.

Ok, you want facts? Here is where I got my facts from, the press release which says nothing about buying the name. Normally we do not rehash every single tidbit about a game in every single post on it because it is redundant. Also, because we have not reported any news on it in three months, yes, I personally deem that quite a while, Death. Plus, while we did post the E3 trailer on it, I am not going to argue over what is news to our editors on here and what is not. It is blog and we can pretty much say as little as possible on this if we want or go all out and do an expose. I chose to write what was included in the press release and how long it has been since we got an official email from them, period. Next time I write something, I will keep your suggestions in mind and tell everyone when the last time the devs ate, what it was, and whether they got laid later on or not. Also please keep in mind that I am writing this with humor and not being a bitch which it is usually hard to tell (online) whether someone is being an asshole or not - rest assured, I am not.

WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES NEW GAME NAME F.E.A.R. 2: PROJECT ORIGIN

Sequel Expands The Acclaimed F.E.A.R. Videogame Franchise

LONDON -- September 9, 2008 -- Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today the new name - F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin for the sequel to the hit videogame F.E.A.R. The game is being developed for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Windows PC and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system by Monolith Productions and will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive on February 10, 2009 in North America and February 13, 2009 in Europe.

“The name addition builds upon the strong game recognition, which we will extend as we move forward reinventing the F.E.A.R. brand,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin will continue the legacy of the original F.E.A.R. game with story and combat while adding new twists, gameplay and graphics to expand the players’ experience.”

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2005 smash hit game, F.E.A.R., is a blend of advanced visceral combat mixed with seamless game pacing set inside a sinister and paranormal universe that begins shortly before the ending of F.E.A.R. A Special Forces squad is on a routine mission when the city of Auburn is rocked by a supernatural explosion. Alma, a girl with immense power and a thirst for revenge, has unleashed her wrath upon the city and thrown it into chaos. The squad must combat enemy forces and the supernatural as they struggle to find a way to stop Alma and uncover the mysterious forces arrayed against them before it’s too late.

When reporting news and the words "It has been months since we have heard anything new" that should mean more than just three months. We should not expect news to be pumped out on a weekly/daily basis. Also, one of those videos had news about a new enemy. I don't know what you are trying to say here? Videos do not count as news? Those vids were only released two months ago too.

As for the name, I didn't vote for it. There was another name that had the word "Dark" something in it and it sounded really cool but didn't relate to well to the game. I do think FEAR 2: PO is a lot better and I'm glad they bought the name from Activision/Blizzard.

I never said anything bad about the game, I'm just saying how the news was posted and should of been thought out more clearly before pressing the submit button so quickly. I don't know what they emailed you but this is what I pulled off their website. Homework sucks but at least the facts will be strait.

"Monolith Productions Inc. and WB Games Inc. are pleased to announce that we have purchased the F.E.A.R. name from Activision/Blizzard. Monolith Productions, the creators of F.E.A.R., have been developing the true sequel to F.E.A.R. over the last two years under the community selected title, “Project Origin.” With the name being returned home, the game will now be titled F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin."

You have to realize Death, that we do not get every single trailer, screen or press release known to man either. While we did indeed get trailers for the game during E3, we did not get anything in terms of "news" since June. Also, I am not the only one who thought Project Origin was a little unoriginal - although I have heard of games with titles that are much worse - even unbearable. So there is no need to be pissed off - no one is saying that it is going to suck. We will find out if it is worthy of being called a sequel soon enough - and from what I have seen just in trailers alone, it has a 90% chance of being pretty damn good.

No offense Stephany but this post more or less just pissed me off more than anything (nothing against you, just I'm a big FEAR/PO fan). It hasn't been months since they release info, they released 3 trailers at E3, http://fear.filefront.com/news/E3_with_Three_New_Videos;39660 . Steve is correct about the name change though. If you played the game F.E.A.R. though the name Project Origin makes perfect sense (I know you can't play every game, just saying).

About the release date, that is great news! The game is looking great and I will hopefully have my computer upgraded by then!

Steve is correct. Vivendi owned the rights to the F.E.A.R. name, therefore Monolith decided to have a contect where users submitted possible names (Google the list, there are some really funny ones on there.) I'm guessing Vivendi either decided to be nice (unlikely) or sold the rights to the name to Monolith.

I do believe thou hast been torched. (Oh Satan, I crack myself the fuck up  ) Plus, I love playing with myself on a daily basis. Just thought I would tell you that, esp. since I think of you while I do it you saucy wench!

Well, I completely forgot about that little tidbit. Then again, it has been months since we have heard anything and my memory is about as worthless as burned out light bulb. I would have preferred Alma's Revenge over Project Origin though... at least it would have had something to do with the game. :-)

I do believe the reason they went with Project Origin (which itself was a dubbed via a contest) was because they ditched their original publisher (Vivendi) whom possibly owned (at least partially) the rights to the F.E.A.R. namesake.

So with this news, it seems Monolith or Warner Bros. were successful in obtaining full rights to F.E.A.R., most importantly before the game's critical release.

But, yeah, it will probably sell a few more copies now. [sounds silly, I know]
