Famed producer of mostly awesome films, Jerry Bruckheimer, recently spoke with Collider regarding his work on the upcoming Prince of Persia film. He revealed that they hope to begin filming in June, though the continuing writers strike could change that. Right now they mostly have a screenplay, but, strangely enough, haven’t settled on a time period yet:
Jerry Bruckheimer: I guess it’s the 8th or 9th Century, but that could change to. It might change a little bit, we’re not sure yet. It’ll definitely be a period film; we’re not going to make it contemporary.
He also stated that he hopes to turn the film into another big franchise, in the same vein as National Treasure or Pirates of the Caribbean.
Hmm, let’s see: we’ve got Jerry Bruckheimer, who has pretty much not done anything terrible in years producing. And we’ve got Mike Newell, who’s done a pretty even mix of sappy dramas and cool action dramas. Then of course we’ve got a badass acrobatic prince who can control time. I predict good things.
