Prince of Persia Film Pushed Back Into 2010

If you were hoping to see Jack Gyllenhaal brooding his way through the Prince of Persia film in less than a year, it looks like you may have to wait quite a bit longer. Walt Disney Pictures has apparently moved the release date for the film from June 19, 2009 to May 28, 2010. The original release date would have been a week before Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen, and apparently Disney didn’t want to force their film to compete with a guaranteed blockbuster. The new release date falls during the Memorial Day weekend and is sandwiched between the releases for Shrek Goes Fourth and the upcoming Thor film, based on the comic book (yeah, no possible blockbusters there).
Oh well, I’m not exactly hyped up for this movie anyway. Maybe it’s my cynicism that anyone in Hollywood could actually do a video game movie much justice or maybe it’s…no, wait, I was right the first time.
