Good news is flooding out of Hollywood for all you Terminator fans. Terminator Salvation has a videogame crossover coming out with the movie. The game is a third-person action title developed by the GRIN Studios division of Halcyon Games and co-published by Equity Games and Evolved Games.
Spike VGAs premiered the first look teaser trailer for Terminator Salvation the Videogame. After tantalizing glimpses of Classic Aerial Hunter-Killers, Ground Hunter-Killers, T-600s and of course the signature T-800, I’m already over Christmas and ready for May 2009.
More about the new Terminator movies follows the break. Yes, I did say movies.
For those of you who haven’t taken in the Terminator Salvation movie trailer yet, here’s James Cameron’s vision of a post-apocalyptic future made possible with today’s advanced CGI.
Classic Aerial Hunter-Killers, Transports and Ground Hunter-Killers roam the wasteland left after Judgment Day. According to IMDb we can look forward to seeing several new machines of war. The Warner Bros. Terminator Salvation blog describes Hydrobots and Aerostats patrolling water and skies. Harvesters collect humans for Skynet experiments and the Moto-terminator tranforms from a motor cycle to a skeletal version of the original Terminator. TechEBlog has some awesome shots of this devastating machine. We’ll also get to see the giant, robotic predecessor of the T-800 cyborg we’re all so familiar with, T-600.
Speaking of the familiar T-800, Arnold Schwarzenegger has said he would take part in filming if it weren’t for his term in office. As it is he’s made a few visits to the studio causing people to speculate he’s recorded voice overs for Salvation.
The response to Terminator Salvation has been so overwhelming, Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek have given the go ahead to start on a fifth Terminator movie. Variety reports that Helmer McG will be assisting on the new project and Christian Bale has signed as John Connor for three Terminator films.

Does anybody else think that the game looks like a cross between Gears of War and Resistance only with PS2 graphics?
I think I saw a stalker in there along with cover based gameplay.
To be frank, I don’t care if it looks like a PS2 game (which I don’t think it does.. its hard to judge anything from a web trailer) but comparisons in games are inevitable until we get hands on time. It uses a visual lexicon we’re used to – 3rd person perspective, real objects. If it plays like Resistance and GoW 2 then I’d be happy.. since both are great games for very different reasons in my book.
Resistance was “meh”, Gears was good, but either way I will have to wait until this game comes out for a while and read some reviews because as much as I’d love to play a terminator game, Movie games usually suck fat balls. we’ll see how it goes. I might rent it.
