Pre-Order Gears of War 2 from Amazon.com

It’s not uncommon for online retailers to make an educated guess as to when a highly-anticipated game might be released, but a game that hasn’t even been announced yet? Right now, Amazon.com has a listing up for “Gears of War 2″ with a release date of November 15, 2008. You also have the option to pre-order the game, and it looks like some people have already jumped on the offer. Granted, it’s pretty much guaranteed that a sequel to Gears of War will come out sooner or later, but taking pre-orders already when the game hasn’t even been announced is pretty strange. But I guess if you’re interested in handing over some money with absolutely no idea when you’ll be getting something for it, this offer is for you.

Sorta like when I pre-ordered Halo-2, even with a date announced, it was still put back by about a year or so. Hope the date is right for the fans of the game though.
Um … you people know that Amazon doesn’t actually CHARGE you until right before they ship your package to you, right? That has been their standard operating procedure pretty much forever. What planet are you people on, and what are you smoking there, and where can I get some? As the trip sounds legendary. You are not putting any money in Amazon’s bank if you pre-order anything with them. You are simply adding to their bragging rights, like what they did with the Harry Potter book 7 pre-orders, where they actually had a counter on the main page, showing the pre-orders. Doing it this early certainly won’t gain you anything, but it also doesn’t hurt either — you could always cancel the pre-order before it shipped.
Fair enough, I didn’t know that. Some company’s do charge for pre orders. I’m not sure why not knowing the full details of Amazons charging practices means I’m a junkie though
